I'm having some trouble finding information about wiring up the phone lines for the SecureLinc 2 security system. I'm a very technical person (Software Developer), but phone/electrical wiring is definitely my weak link (noob).
My problem is that the manual mentions wiring up an RJ-31X jack, but the diagrams in the manual do not match the physical product that I received.
Here's the diagram (for North America):
And here's the actual circuit board:
The board has a "Line" jack, but that's not shown or mentioned int he diagram at all.
I've also purchased an RJ-31X jack:
My question is how do I wire all of this up?
Also, the RJ-31X jack did not come with any wires, and the jack itself is not a normal phone jack, so is there a special kind of wire I need to buy for that?

Is that helpful at all? It just confuses me because it doesn't show the "Line" jack and as far as I know, phone lines have 4 wires, not just 2. |

I just realized that the wires from the RJ-31X jack to the SecurLinc board were mixed up, so here's an updated diagram for anyone else that might need it in the future...

You can omit the wire between the SecureLinc 2 and the Phone Line (shown at the top of your drawing). |

Does this mean I can skip the green and red wiring between the phone line and the RJ-31X jack?

Yes.

Line is from the telephone line to the board. You can use either a plug or the wires. |

Thanks! That definitely helps... So, if i'm understanding correctly, I can just ignore all the wires except red and green?
Now I just need to know what that "Line" jack is for on the SecureLink circuit board. |

Telephones have two wires, a ring (R) and a tip (T). A telephone plug (RJ11) is designed for three lines as follows:
Line 1: pin 3, red (R1); pin 4, grn (T1)
Line 2: pin 2, blk (T2); pin 5, yel (R2)
Line 3: pin 1, wht (T3); pin 6, blu (R3)
Unless you have more than one line (in which case you have a choice) use red and green (center pins). |
