Posted - 03/12/2012 : 09:29:11 AM I built up a PC this weekend. P4 Soyo motherboard with 2.4GHz Celeron processor and 768GB RAM. I did a fresh Windows XP install, with all of the Microsoft updates.
I then installed Houselinc 2.8.10, and that's where my troubles started. When I launch Houselinc, I get the following: "Houselinc has detected an unexpected problem.... xx seconds to restart automatically". This then gives me two choices: #1) Cancel or #2) Restart. Then the whole cycle start all over again.
I have called Smarthome tech support, and talked to the Gold Support people. They say that they have never heard of this.
Where do I start troubleshooting this issue?
I did have to install .net Framework 2.0 to get the installer to run. I then installed .net Framework 4.0, and all accompanying Microsoft updates, but still no Joy.
I have also tried un-installing and re-installing Houselinc.

Posted - 06/23/2012 : 2:09:08 PM They replaced HouseLinc v1 and had a big campaign years ago to upgrade people to Houselinc version 2 and the new plm interface.
No further updates are available for the v1 software or interface. You would have to contact Smarthome to see if they have any upgrade path or sales currently to help you get up to date. |

Posted - 06/23/2012 : 06:24:09 AM Jim are you using the original HouseLinc1, that used the 2414U or 2414S PLC Interfaces?
The newer versions are only for HouseLinc2 that used the HouseLinc Enabled PLMs. 2412SH,2412UH,2413UH and 2413SH? |

Posted - 03/13/2012 : 10:29:55 PM Carl, glad I could help. Be nice if they would just let Houselinc download 2.9.10 the first time! |

Posted - 03/13/2012 : 07:30:02 AM I had the same symptom. The only way I was able to resolve it was to delete (actually renamed) the install directory tree and start over from scratch. At the imte no one else was seeing the symptom which I attributed to trying to use Scenes (only a guess) when that function first came out. Once a fresh install was done creating the directory tree during that install all was fine. Of course I had to add all the devices again. There might have been something I could copied from the old directories but I was so happy to get HL back without that constant restart sequence I just started over. Note that I did not install 2.8.10 again. By that time more releases had come out so I installed whatever was the latest at the time. |

Posted - 03/13/2012 : 07:23:32 AM I think I have it working OK now. While working on this issue, I got a notification from the Microsoft mothership of more updates, so I let them install (these were .net Framework 3.5 service pack, but were not recommeneded during the last go-round of updates). After running these new updtaes, Houselinc 2.8.10 started, but could not find the PLM. I let it do the upgrade to 2.9.10, and the new version then found the dual-band USB PLM. I think I'm good to go.

Posted - 03/12/2012 : 11:57:32 PM I have installed the .net Framework 4.0 and updates. I'm not getting crashes, it just won't ever start. I'm never getting to the point where it can crash :-( How do I get 2.9.10 installed if I can't load to the point where it updates itself? Is there a direct link I can download from?

Posted - 03/12/2012 : 11:07:14 PM Update to 2.9.#, I had problems with 2.8.10. I also did the optional Microsoft updates for net .4 and my crashes went away.
