Posted - 06/02/2012 : 3:37:36 PM Just got a new TouchLinc. Connected to WiFi and HouseLinc with no problem. Instructions suggested upgrading firmware and software to latest release. Downloaded from website and did firmware upgrade. Upgrade seemed to go OK and said that it was complete and to restart. The unit is basically dead now. If you hold the power button the TouchLInc logo comes up but nothing else. As soon as you release the power button it goes black. If you plug in a USB cable the same logo appears but nothing else. After looking at the firmware version that was on the TouchLinc which I wrote down it seems that it was newer than the version on the website that I downloaded and installed. I suspect that is the problem. Any thoughts or is this thing a brick now |

Posted - 08/26/2012 : 06:43:42 AM I wish I had read this before trying to update my touchlinc firmware. We just moved and I hadn't been using the touchlinc for a couple of months. Upon setting it up in our new home, I decided to check to see if there were any updates. I saw the last 4 digits of the "new" downloaded firmware and saw they were larger than the last 4 digits of the current firmware. What I failed to notice was that the first 4 digits of the firmware I downloaded were 2010 and the one installed in the touchlinc was 2011. Now I have the exact same issue you had. I guess I will need to call support on Monday and, hopefully, even they can send me a replacement even though mine is almost a year old. |

Posted - 06/02/2012 : 4:18:22 PM No response when I press the reset button. If I hold the power button on and the logo lights up and press the reset buttion while I am holding the power button the screen goes black so it is seeing the reset button but no combination of power or reset buttons will get past the initial logo screen and the little progress bar under the logo never changes either. I have tried holding the reset button and or the power button for at least a minute to see if anything would change but nothing does |

Posted - 06/02/2012 : 4:01:23 PM That's kind of what I figured. Unfortunately they are not there until Monday and I am on the east coast so another unit is probably a week away. The website needs to be updated with current firmware. Thanks for your help. Burt |

Posted - 06/02/2012 : 3:48:01 PM Yes I did use an SD card. The card is out. This unit did not work the way the instructions said. The firmware update was part of the touchlinc app. There was a formware update tab that asked whether or not the firmware was on an SD card and did the firmware update from within the touchlinc app. The existing firmware was 20110409 and after I looked at what I downloaded it was 20101210. I think the older firmware is what caused the problem |

Posted - 06/02/2012 : 3:42:14 PM No, not a brick. Did you update using an SD card? IIRC, you have to remove the card before rebooting to avoid it trying to automatically update again on the next reboot. Remove that, then use a pin to hit the reset button on the bottom.
