I've had a 2420M that has been working fine for at least a year. However I noticed recently that it has not been turning on the linked light recently. I took it down and changed the battery with a fresh battery and tested the function of the micro switch that is in the battery compartment. The associated light turns on and off flawlessly when I use the button. I have adjusted the sensitivity multiple times and it still won't activate with the sensor. I decided to do a factory reset of the settings following the remove battery, press and hold 2 seconds and reattach battery and the sensor still does not work. The device links and unlinks with other switches fine and the red LED flashes when resetting it (though not when it is in sensor mode even if the jumper is placed in that configuration) I'm afraid that the PIR module has failed. Any ideas?

It does sound like you might have a failing unit. You might want to call Smarthome's Gold Support Line and talk to them or do a chat session which you can activate the the Smarthome.com home page. I have 4 motion detectors and they have worked fine.
