Posted - 07/18/2012 : 10:09:35 PM I have a 120VAC to 12VDC, 200 watt outdoor lighting transformer that I purchased from Lowe's about a year or so ago. Yesterday we had a bad thunderstorm and I believe that a power surge took it out. I looked for some type of reset button, but there wasn't any. I took it apart but did not see any type of electrical damage. I've come to the conclusion that it is dead. Is there any way to salvage this or repair it? If not, should I treat this as e-waste and dispose of it properly? |

Posted - 07/19/2012 : 08:26:56 AM There's a small chance that the thin primary wire between the coil and the terminal broke, like a fu7se. You can check that with an ohmeter. Other than that nothing short of rewinding the transformer will help. Even if you know what you're doing it's hardly worth the trouble. |

That's like saying, "My printer stopped working, Is there any way to repair it?" Specifics required, but probably no cure for the transformer. It depends ...
