  • What's Included
  • Worried about carbon monoxide emissions in your home? Worried that your smoke alarms are too old? Put those fears aside with this Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm from First Alert. The unit comes equipped with an actual voice that speaks the type and location of danger in your home. This First Alert carbon monoxide and smoke alarm is perfect because everybody wants to be immediately notified where the danger is in their home, to make the best decisions possible in an emergency situation. The 85 decibel alarm with voice feature makes this process much easier. Also, with the ability to control, mute and test the unit with your everyday household remote, you never have to worry about the inconvenience of a false alarm, or getting a ladder out to press the test button. The unit is powered by two (2) AA batteries which are included with your purchase.

    Hands-On Research:
When testing this product I found it to be very simple to program. You literally insert the two included AA batteries and the unit will walk and talk you through the set-up process. It's that easy!

    Voice Alarm with Location

This is an incredible feature! With the 85 decibel alarm and voice function, it is very easy to hear from a considerable distance. The unit comes equipped with twelve (12) available programming locations; Basement, Child's Bedroom, Dining Room, Family Room, Guest Bedroom, Hallway, Kitchen, Living Room, Master Bedroom, Office, Utility Room, and No Location. The voice will provide you with danger and location information within three seconds of alarm activation. It will say, "Smoke in Kitchen," or, "Carbon Monoxide in basement." Etc...

    Remote Controllable

With this feature you no longer have to worry about the difficulties of getting to your alarm to test it, you can now use your every day remote control. Yes, your TV remote will test and/or program your alarm without the problematic remote control programming process. The volume and channel buttons are the only buttons you need to use on your remote control. This works with virtually all IR remotes.

    Pull-out Battery Drawer

This feature will eliminate the need of removing the alarm from the wall or ceiling. The drawer is located on the side of the unit enabling easy access when replacing low or dead batteries.

    Photoelectric Technology

Photoelectric technology smoke alarms use a T-shaped chamber fitted with a light-emitting diode (LED) and a photocell. The LED sends a beam of light across the horizontal bar of the chamber. The photocell sits at the bottom of the vertical portion of the chamber. The photo cell will generate a current, when exposed to light.

Can't understand the voice. Many false alerts. Can't open the battery compartment to remove the battery to shut it off. In other words, I DON'T LIKE IT!

The product seems to be a good purchase. Though, only time will tell.

+ The beeping and voice really do grab your attention.

    - The number of options of rooms is limited to like 5 rooms. I actually thought you'd be able to specify floors and things.
    - Testing doesn't seem to include interlink, so I haven't really been able to test this (other than starting a fire).

? This alarm also has been in my kitchen when the room filled up with smoke due to burnt food and this doesn't set off any in the proximity. (I'm not sure if that's good or bad...)
