Business Development Manager - Smartlabs Technology & DesignSmartLabs is an established fast-growing, high-performance organization that has developed an advanced wireless home-control networking technology (INSTEON™) and designs and manufactures lighting control products. SmartLabs is seeking sales individuals with strong technical skills, coupled with business savvy to position INSTEON and lighting control products with large corporate developers/OEMs, distributors and builders. The candidate hired for this position will be expected to enunciate and execute a clear sales plan that leads to the closure of significant product revenues and the positioning of INSTEON as the de-facto industry standard. The candidate should be a charismatic professional and able to 'roll up their sleeves.' He/she must believe in team results, possess a high degree of integrity, and exhibit a passion for the business. You must know how to think in win-win terms by creating synergy while at the same time have a killer instinct towards the competition. Position Responsibilities:The Business Development Manager will work in an environment that is high energy and real-time. He/she will have responsibility for managing the development of set of targeted companies as well as the identification of additional prospective companies within the electronic home improvement marketplace.
  • Sales & management of assigned targeted accounts
  • Identification & development of new licensing opportunities
  • Implement a distributor/builder program for lighting control products in the U.S.
  • Responsible for quarterly revenue quotas
  • Clearly and concisely articulate the value of INSTEON and develop a strong technical and sales understanding of INSTEON
  • Build effective team relationships with the other team membersRequirements:The Business Development Manager must have a successful track record (5 years minimum) of selling advanced electronic technology. The position requires a high energy, decisive and flexible individual who is able to quickly respond. In addition, you must possess the following:
  • Strong knowledge of home automation market
  • Retail/Distribution selling experience
  • A history of success in penetrating new accounts and developing significant revenue streams
  • Keen business skills and able to work in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent judgment and self-directed work style
  • Strong customer service & support skills
  • Excellent communications and writing skills
  • Willingness to travel (50-75%); locations include: Atlanta, California, Chicago, Dallas, and the Northeast
