  • Add an Extra Wireless Transmitter for the Wireless Probe Driveway Alert system (sold separately), and you'll be able to monitor another entrance to your property. This transmitter will send an instant alert from the foot of your driveway when a car enters your property but won't be triggered by deer or large animals. A probe is buried at the base of your driveway and sends a signal to the transmitter when a car is detected. The weatherproof transmitter operates on one 9-volt battery (sold separately) and is easily mounted on a tree or post near the driveway (mounting materials sold separately). The transmitter sends a radio signal back to the receiver, which can be placed in your home up to 600 feet away.

This driveway sensor can be used to control your INSTEON devices by adding the EZSnsRF receiver to your INSTEON network. With the EZSnsRF you can incorporate up to 20 different 3000 series Dakota Alert sensors to trigger various INSTEON scenes.

The Extra Transmitter for Wireless Probe Driveway Alert comes with 50 feet of direct burial wire connecting the probe to the exterior case. The probe is buried parallel to the driveway, and will detect vehicles passing by within approximately 10 to 12 feet. The direct burial cable can be run to a tree or post nearby, where the transmitter box is located. When a vehicle drives by, the transmitter will send a signal to the receiver up to 600 feet away.

Using the dip switches on the Extra Wireless Transmitter, you can select one of four tones (Classical, Westminster Chime, Ding Dong, or Whistle) to sound when the receiver gets the signal from the transmitter. The tone will sound for a few seconds.

This is a great product. We have no view of our driveway and this alerts us every time a vehicle passes near it. There are no unnecessary alerts caused by animals passing an electric eye.

Bought product and instead of the 600 feet it went about 200 feet, from which I can visually see. Sent back unit which cost 18 dollars

I've had these units for five years and they work great. It is always nice to not be surprised by a door knock since we live way out off the grid.

I haven't had a chance to really give it a good test but I can tell you it wasn't delivered to me as a 9-volt version. My unit requires 4 CR123A batteries. They cost under $10 for 4 of them. Wish there was a test button on the transmitter too. It would be much easier to troubleshoot the transmissions to the know if you are transmitting and receiving a signal EZSnsRF receiver.

This works well. A feature I did not see mentioned in the instructions is a led (internal to black box) that shows when the device registers a car. This will be very helpful in adjusting and trouble shooting.
