  • The Dakota Alert DCPT-2500 Extra Transmitter for Wireless Driveway Probe Alert is used with the Wireless Driveway Probe Alert system. Extra wireless transmitters can be used in other locations; for example, a second driveway, other buildings, backyard, etc. The transmitter operates on one 9-Volt Battery (not included) and has 50° of direct burial wire connecting the probe to the exterior case. The probe is buried parallel to the driveway, and will detect vehicles passing by within approximately 10-12 feet. The direct burial cable can be run to a tree or post nearby, where the transmitter box is located. When a vehicle drives by, the transmitter will send a signal to the DCR-2500 receiver up to 1/2 a mile away.

I get a lot of false alarms. I go out and change the code and it sometimes works for awhile without a false alarm and sometimes it doesn't take long before I get false alarms. Once the false alarms start, they continue every few minutes or so until you disconnect the battery and change the code again or just turn the thing off. Seems to start false alarms during rainy/stormy weather. A/C's may cause the false alarm also.

I purchased this item in Feb and have had problems with the unit. I have changed the battery 2 times and finally, yesterday, I changed the coding on the probe. Am waiting if this solves the problem. It just set the alarm off without anything being passed by or over the probe. It has not alarmed since yesterday so am waiting to see if it does it again. If so I will need to return the probe. If I have to return the unit, do I contact you or the mfgr? I have two probes. The other one works fine. Thank you and have a blessed day.

Superior product. I use this at a driveway almost 1,000 feet away and 300 feet lower, through thick forest to be notified that a car is arriving. Superb.
