CEBus Powerline & Radio Frequency Monitor
What is CEBus?
Consumer Electronics Bus is a communications standard for in home networks developed by the Electronics Industry Association (EIA) and the Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association. It was in development for over a decade and approved in 1992. CEBus is an open standard which means anyone can develop products using this communications protocol. The standard covers communication via the 110V AC powerline (PLC), twisted pair (TP) cable, coax cable, RF and Infrared.
The disadvantages of CEBus are the relatively few products currently available and the very high cost of those products. This is an external CEBus unit that attaches to the serial port of a PC to provide data communication and control of devices at 10,000 bits per second. Two versions are available: a powerline version and an RF version. Includes interface unit, powerline coupling module (on powerline version only), Windows DLL driver, DOS TSR driver, C language API library with sample source code.
