  • Connecting and controlling industrial and office equipment by application servers or web browsers can be costly and challenging. WebControl™ is an innovative, flexible, and affordable solution that extend computer servers′ capabilities. It is a device allowing integrating with network gateway and router to form our patent pending smart grid technology that we have been working on since 2007.

Harnessing the power and openness of Internet web technology, WebControl™ uses W3C standard-based client/server communication methods to bring remote monitoring and control of equipment to any web browser -- anywhere, anytime, and with unsurpassed convenience and flexibility. It can also bring it to a web server, which can use GET/WGET to read status of input and output of other equipment through WebControl™ ; thus automate monitoring and control through web-based applications. WebControl offers a powerful set of capabilities including simultaneous monitoring of digital and analog sensor signals, temperature and humidity sensors, and TTL output status through its programmable Boolean Run Engine.

Simply connect WebControl to an appropriate power source, the LAN, and the desired equipment, and remote monitoring and control is just a mouse-click away.

    + Variety Inputs Support

WebControl™ can simultaneously connect to 8 digital inputs, 3x10 bits A/D analog inputs provides 1024 steps accuracy, 8 optional DS1820/DS1822 based digital temperature sensors, and 1 optional Honeywell HIH-4000 Series humidity sensor. WebControl also has 20 built-in timers based on NTP or on board crystal to maintain accurate time events. All these inputs can be used to feed to the Boolean Run Engine for decision making. This information can also be rendered to clients on the remote sites through browser and can also be made available to server-based applications running on a web server.

    + Flexible Output

The eight TTL output, is by default, at logic zero. When an output is triggered or turned on, it sends out 5V, maximum drive current 20MA per output. It is capable to drive an optical isolated SSR (Solid State Relay, normal input control voltage 3-32V current is < 10mA) device to run a motor, siren, light, heater, refrigerator, or other desired component.

WebControl™ allows users to control each output through browser from thousands of miles away, or through its built-in BRE(Boolean Run Engine)automatically, or through the WGET protocol from application servers.

    + Sophisticated Control

WebControl™′s BRE(Boolean Run Engine) allows "AND", "OR", "delay", or "momentary on", for each output based on all the I/O condition. There is no learning curve, simply use browser and keyboard to enter the I/O needed for the control logic. It has delay function allow 0 to 6335 seconds delay for ON or OFF in the BRE. The momentary on function has resolution of 0.1 to 100 second(s).

WebControl™ PLC has a true PLC firmware. The PLC firmware allows users to write assembly like PLC code to compare inputs, define timer or delays, anddetermine when to send email notifications. Users can write up to 1000 lines of PLC code. Through PLC logic, user can decide using email or WEBSET function to notify user on the website, email, or text message. There are real examples in the PLC User Guide for reference. PLC firmware is very flexible and powerful.

+ Simple to Install and Manage

WebControl resides as a well-behaved 10BaseT-interfaced device on the local network and has a built-in DHCP client to automate network configuration that can be defeated to assign a fixed IP address via WebControl′s browser-based interface. WebControl′s host name can be set as desired for installations with multiple WebControl units and local time zone to reflect the location.

WebControl has an embedded web server to facilitate its browser-based interface. The built-in SMTP and NTP time servers facilitate outbound email notifications and time synchronization. WebControl provides authenticated access, and security can be enhanced by allowing network access to WebControl from only authorized IP address ranges.

    + Automatic Notifications

WebControl is capable of automatically sending email notifications to a specified user, a mailing list, or a cell phone when the state changes on any of its eight outputs. With this notification feature, advice can be sent automatically. For example, when the temperature exceeds 90 degrees and the air conditioner is turned off, when humidity has reached 90% and a humidifier is turned on, or when a secure area has been breached and a siren is activated, a notification will be sent. WebControl firmware now also supports setting value on another Webcontrol board, or sending to the server CGI code.

    + Energy Efficient Device

WebControl™ requires 5-40V DC power source absolutely not exceed 40VDC power source. Its current, related to the supply voltage, mostly consumes no more than 170MA. (< 2 watts. When driving power load, the load driven current is in addition to the WebControl CPU.)

I previously said "I have three of these boards. One is the older hardware version and the other two are the newest hardware version 2.3.8. If you can get the older version fine. That one has worked well. However, the same cannot be said for version 2.3.8. Please note this is the hardware not firmware version. If you review my posts over on the ISY forums and the Cocoon forums you will see in detail what I am talking about. Other than the One wire temperatures this little board is fine. As soon as you wire in even just one one wire temperature sensor this little board will begin to lockup, reboot itself from a half a dozen times a day once every one to four days. As such this board cannot be used in anything other than hobby applications"

I am moving this up from one to three stars. There is a firmware update which has improved the WC8s one wire performance. I am running the board now with 2 one wire sensors. Will see how it performs.
