  • The Automatic Yard Watering System connects to a standard faucet, providing four hose outlets, each with independent controls for convenient, remote operation. Attach the four-outlet brass manifold to an outside hose faucet, mounting it either to the valve's mounting bracket or to your wall. Connect your hoses to the valves and install and set the timer, and your automatic sprinkler system is ready to take over your time-consuming watering chores! The Automatic Yard Watering System comes with two leak-free valves. By adding the Extra Valve for the Yard Watering System, you'll be able to irrigate another section of your yard at its own schedule. Add two of these extra valves to obtain the maximum watering potential of the Automatic Yard Watering System.

The Automatic Yard Watering System offers a flexible watering schedule, configurable for each of the four stations. Choose the weekdays you want to water. You can water every day, only certain days, or every second or third day, starting at the time you designate. You can also set the amount of time you water each area, up to 99 minutes in length, and you can easily add extra time to your scheduled watering duration during a heat wave. Possible rain in the forecast? Delay your automatic watering schedule up to 24 hours.

The company that makes this item has "upgraded" to an inferior item. We were very glad to find this on smarthome, and shipping was quick and easy. Thanks!

Bought two sets of these as a quick solution in lieu of an irrigation system at a rental property.
    1. Does what it is supposed to, which is turn water on and off at preset times.
    2. Multiple hoses can come off one timer, so no worries about clocks on multiple timers getting out of sync and causing multiple hoses to go on at the same time.
    3. Wire from valve to controller allows controller to be installed against the house where it is more protected.
    4. Allows for multiple watering incidents in one 24 hour period.

    1. Not very intuitive to program. A bit awkward - is confusing for some, so I cannot just ask anyone to change the programming.
    2. No option to add a moisture sensor or rain gauge that could prevent watering when it rains. I would not mind using one of the four inputs for this. The lack of this option is the major weakness of this system. Ideally, you would stick a wireless moisture sensor in the ground that transmits to a receiver that plugs into one of the four inputs. If the ground moisture threshold is met (due to rain), the controller would override the timer and not allow watering. Without this I am wasting money watering when it rains, and the n'hood thinks the Landlord is nuts.
    3. Would love an option to get this thing hooked up to the web via wi-fi so I could change the programming via a web interface, but that may be a bit far fetched for what this device is supposed to do. Still...
    4. One of the valves did not work out of the box. Smarthome sent me a replacement valve, but there was a bit of confusion getting a proper RMA. Both issues were sort of an aggravation, but both are now resolved.

This device is terrific. Best of all, the controller uses standard audio 1/8 wire, so you can purchase any length of male-female cable and install the controller wherever you like. I also use one of the zones to control an Arizona-style mister system so I can step out on my deck and turn it on from there rather than walking around the house to the valve! It is so convenient. I am thrilled with the product so far.

This is a VERY SIMPLE unit that can only provide ONE run-time duration for each valve under its control. It only comes with 2 valves, so if you want 4 valves, you need to buy 2 additional valves.

Here is the big problem with the unit: it comes with the ability to have 3 waterings cycles. However, it CAN NOT provide seperate valve run-time controls for each cycle; If you want valve 1 to run for 60 minutes in cycle A and then run for 5 minutes in cycles B and C, it CANT SUPPORT that!

Works great. Just wish the LED readout was larger and the main line at top was bigger.

The Orbitz Automatic Yard Watering System works well once programmed. However, I think the programming instructions could be clarified in the area of run time and frequency per zone.

I've got this product installed in 2 of my three outside faucets. It has been absolutely trouble free and works wonderfully! Central Texas is going through it's 2nd worse drought, creating mandantory water usage issues. My yard is green because I maximize my time and ensure lawn is watered.

If I could wish for future improvement, it would be nice if there was an option to connect the timer back to a master AC timer to manage multiple faucets from one spot. Also, wouldn't have to go out to turn them off seperately in a surprise rain. I'm back for my final one, so I love it!
