Essential Info
The Home Energy Controller from Intuitous allows for a home security panel to communicate directly with a home HVAC system to seize every opportunity available to save energy. It's perfect for busy families with unpredictable schedules because this Home Energy Controller will eliminate the need to program a daily or weekly schedule into a thermostat. Because it is connected to both the security panel and HVAC system it will automatically override the thermostat to conserve energy when the security panel is armed. When the "away" mode on a security system is activated the smart controller knows that the house is vacant and when the "stay" mode is activated it knows you're home for the evening and going to bed. It will then automatically override the thermostat to enter into a managed setback mode to save energy. The heating setback temperatures available are 62°, 64°, 66° or 68°F with 66°F being the default setback temperature while the AC setback options are 76°, 78°, 80° or "Off" with 78°F being the default temperature. Changing the setback temperatures can be done by adjusting the DIP switches located on the controller (refer to Changing Controller Options chart in Specifications tab for more info). Once the resident is home and has adjusted the security panel accordingly the Home Energy Controller will return control of the heating and cooling back to the thermostat for normal use. The Home Energy Controller for security systems is 100% automatic and once it is installed the residents will forget it's even there, that is until they start noticing the energy bill savings. It has an onboard computer that uses advanced logic, timers and a temperature sensor to take advantage of any available energy saving opportunity without adversely affecting comfort levels. This product should be installed by an experienced security system installer. For step by step setup refer to the installation guide. This energy controller is also available for use with commercial buildings and offices, sold separately.

| Changing Controller Options | | # | Function | Description of Controller Options | | 1 and 2 | Heating Setback | These 2 switches are used to select the heating temperature setback using the following 4 combinations: Off-Off=62°F, Off-On=64°F, On-Off=66°F, On-On=68°F | | 3 and 4 | Cooling Setback | These 2 switches are used to select the cooling temperature setback using the following 4 combinations: Off-Off=OFF, Off-On=80°F, On-Off=78°F, On-On=76°F | | 5 | Daytime Restore | If enabled, the heat/cool system will exit setback once the daytime restore timer has expired. This feature allows the heat/cool system to exit conservation mode in time to restore the house back to comfort level before the homeowner returns from work. If disabled, setback will continue until occupancy is re-established (i.e. AWAY is turned off). On=Enabled, Off=Disabled | | 6 | Daytime Restore Timer | Used to set the duration of the daytime restore timer. Switch #5 must be on for this setting to take effect. On=6 hours, Off=8 hours | | 7 | Night Restore | If enabled, the HVAC system will exit setback once the timer has expired allowing the system to exit conservation mode and to return to comfort level before the residents wake. If disabled, setback will continue until STAY is turned off. On=Enabled, Off=Disabled | | 8 | Night Restore Timer | This switch is used to set duration of the night restore timer. Note that switch #7 must be on for this setting to take effect. On=6 hours, Off=8 hours | | 9 | Long Term Setback | If enabled, the system enters long term conservation mode when the space has been vacant (AWAY mode) for 18 hours and longer. The setback temperature is the vacant setback setting minus 3°F for heating and plus 3°F for cooling. On=Enabled, Off=Disabled | | 10 | Exit Delay | This switch sets the exit delay from immediate to 20 minutes. The delay will prevent the heating and cooling system from entering setback mode until the delay timer has expired. On=20 min., Off=0 min |
| Terminal Connections - Security Panel | | # | Label | Wire Color | Function | 1 2 | PGM 1 PGM 2 | Green Yellow | The PGM output from the security panel that is programmed for AWAY must be connected to PGM1 and the PGM output from the security panel that is programmed for STAY must be connected to PGM2 | 3 4 | Aux + Aux - | Red Black | The Intuitous controller must be powered by the 12VDC Auxiliary power from the security panel |
| Terminal Connections - HVAC System | | # | Label | Function | 1 2 | W W | The 2 "W" terminals provide a normally closed connection through an electronic relay. When the controller enters heating setback, it opens the connection and prevents the heating system from running. These terminals are designed for low voltage 24 VAC control ONLY. Contacts are rated for 2.0A @ 24VAC | 3 4 | Y Y | The 2 "Y" terminals provide a normally closed connection through an electronic relay. When the controller enters cooling setback, it opens the connection and prevents the air conditioner from running. These terminals are designed for low voltage 24 VAC control ONLY. Contacts are rated for 2.0A @ 24VAC |
