Essential Info

The Speakercraft Aim Wide Five speaker features a fully pivoting Kevlar® woofer and a unique dual mid-tweeter module that is mounted directly over the woofer. The dual mid-tweeter consists of two Kevlar 2-inch dome midrange drivers and two aluminum 3/4-inch dome tweeters facing 70 degrees off axis from each other. The result is ultra-wide dispersion with tremendous fidelity. Equipped with on-speaker bass and treble controls as well as a Wide/Ambience switch to control the resulting sound, the AIM Wide Five speaker is the perfect solution for rooms of any size and shape.

WIDE / AMBIENCE Adjustment

In WIDE Mode, a strong, well-defined acoustic sound is maintained over a wide coverage angle. This broader radiation pattern translates into a larger "sweet spot" or multi-channel response where the best stereo and 3D effects occur. A larger sweet spot means that more seating and listening positions will have good imaging. AMBIENCE Mode is best suited for rear channels and in applications where a more mysterious "ambient" sound character is preferred. The AIM Wide Five incorporates in-room tailoring controls via a +/- 3db HF adjustment that provides tonal compensation.

Adjusting the AIM Wide Speaker

The woofer and dual mid-tweeter module can be pivoted to best direct the sound towards the listening area. They easily rotate and pivot to almost any position desired. Simply apply pressure with fingertips to the outer surface of the PivotBall and move the speaker to the desired position.

Easy Four-Step Installation

The SpeakerCraft Wide Five speaker can be installed in four easy steps:
1. Determine Placement - Determine where in the ceiling the speaker will be placed, paying close attention to the shape of the room and planned seating arrangement. Use a stud-finder or similar tool to ensure that the mounting position is clear of joists or other obstructions.
2. Trace Template - Using tape or tacks, position the cut-out template on the ceiling at the location where you have decided to mount the speaker. Trace an outline on the ceiling around the template with a pencil.
3. Cut the Hole - This is the most important part of the entire installation. If you are not certain whether or not an obstruction exists behind the desired mounting area, you should start by cutting a small hole in the center of your penciled mounting hole with a drywall saw. Cut at a 45-degree angle towards the inside of the hole. Cutting the small hole at this angle will make drywall repair much easier as the piece cut out can be installed neatly back into the hole. Once you have determined there are no obstructions in your desired mounting location, start cutting the finished hole at a 90-degree angle to the ceiling surface.
4. Mount the Speaker - Place the speaker into the newly cut hole and lock it in place by tightening the screws on the face of the speaker, which tightens the twist-lock mounts to the drywall. Enjoy the sound!
