Instead of a standard, boring two-line telephone, why not get an expandable system with futuristic features you can enjoy today? The Panasonic Multi Talk system is more than a simple two-line phone. If you and your family have Bluetooth-enabled cellular phones, you can register them to this system to take advantage of your cellular services, such as expanded long-distance calling. This system expands to 18 total handsets, and compatible handsets include those with built-in cameras that let you see who you're talking to! This Multi Talk starter set comes with the base unit, which is mandatory for use, and a single cordless handset. Additional handsets are sold separately. This Caller ID-compatible phone system will display and even announce who's calling, and you can assign individual ring tones to each caller in your phone book.

    Use Your Cell Phone Minutes and Features
    Ever feel like you're wasting your free weekend minutes when you use your land line? With Panasonic Multi Talk, you can register up to five Bluetooth-enabled cellular phones to the system and use the handset or base unit to make or answer cellular calls. You'll be able to dictate which handset or base unit rings when your receive a call on a registered cell phone, and you can transfer calls from your cell to the Multi Talk and back or even conference with a cellular call and landline call.

    Add Video Phones for Face-to-Face Communication
    Video phones were once thought of as expensive and futuristic, but the future is here, thanks to the Multi Talk system. In addition to chatting on the phone, you can actually see the person you're talking to by connecting cordless video camera handsets or hands-free video stations (sold separately) to your system. You can register up to eight handsets with each base unit. You can even plug a video phone with an A/V connector into your television to see another person on the big screen during your call!

    Baby Monitoring
    If you have young children, you can use this phone system as a video baby monitor by registering up to two cordless cameras to keep an eye on the tots. If you don't want the cameras, you can set the phone handset in the baby's room to "monitor," and it will transmit audio but will not ring, allowing your youngster to sleep in peace.

    Built-In Answering System
    If your phone rings and you're not at home, the Multi Talk's built-in answering system will take a message. This system records 99 different messages, approximately 60 minutes. Unlike an expensive voicemail service, you can actually use this system to screen your calls, and you'll still be able to dial in remotely to access messages.

    Included Software CD Lets You Use Your PC for Easy Programming
    Install the included Multi Talk V software utilities on your PC, and you'll be able to use your computer to edit all phonebook entries, send melodies on your computer to your phone to use as ring tones, adjust phone settings, and even play answering system messages. You can connect the base unit or a handset to your computer with the included USB cable or using the wireless USB adaptor. If you have a high-speed Internet connection, you'll be able to access the Internet through your phone. This software also allows you to register cordless cameras to view or print images.

    Multiple Options for Making Calls
    Make calls from the base unit or any connected handset, which all feature a speakerphone option for hands-free communication. Speed-dial the last 10 phone numbers called or the 50 most recent incoming calls if you subscribe to Caller ID. Calling is also made easy by using each handset's built-in 50-item phone book. Phone book entries can even be assigned unique ringer IDs if you have Caller ID, as well.

    Intercom, Conferencing and Transferring Features
    Each registered handset functions as an intercom, so this system allows you instant voice access to your entire family. Easily set up conference calls with two outside calls. You can also transfer outside calls between the handset and the base unit and between registered handsets. If the call recipient's not home, you can even transfer the caller directly to the built-in answering system!

    Additional Features
    For easy hands-free conversations, connect a headset. You can also use the included belt clip to hang a handset on your belt or pocket. This phone system includes common telephone conveniences, such as hold, mute, and flash, as well as advanced features, such as a handset voice enhancer, which clarifies a caller's voice, reproducing a more natural sound that's easier to hear and understand. Use the handset clarity booster to improve sound clarity in an area where there may be interference. This feature is turned on automatically when necessary, but you can also turn it on or off manually.

    Note: Caller ID and Call Waiting ID are services provided by your phone company for a fee.

The people you were talking to through the handset complained about the poor sound quality also. Even with the cell phone right next to the base unit the quality was poor. I sent my first unit back and got a new one after about 2 weeks. The new unit did not work right out of the box. I have now sent it back. Maybe the third unit will work.
