If you already have a Sony S-AIR Wireless iPod Whole-House Audio System you can expand the number of audio zones in your home by adding this Sony Air-SA10 Wireless Speaker. It can also be connected to any other Sony S-AIR compatible device. The AIR-SA10 Wireless Speaker comes with a transceiver that allows you to listen to audio being streamed from an S-AIR compatible device via a wireless 2.4GHz frequency connection. The AIR-SA10 isn't limited to listening and volume adjustment, like other whole-house audio systems you can use buttons with playback functions such as Play, Pause, Stop, select preset AM/FM stations, etc. to control the source of your wireless audio. This means you can be in the kitchen and listen to your favorite CD or radio station from your S-AIR compatible device in the laundry room and somebody can else use that same device for listening to something else. For easy visual reference, everything is displayed on a front panel LCD. The sleek design conceals two speakers powered by a 4 Watt x 2 channel internal amplifier for plenty of in-room sound. The AIR-SA10 is not just an affordable way to add extra audio zones to S-AIR compatible devices throughout your home; it also doesn't require a professional installation or wires to be run everywhere. Just plug-in the power and let the tunes fill the air! For a similar S-AIR speaker that includes a remote control and will display audio meta-data, the Sony Air-SA15R Wireless Speaker is sold separately. Important Note: The AIR-SA10 is a receiver that can only receive audio from S-AIR compatible components. It will not transmit audio to other devices or S-AIR compatible components. Sony Audio Interactive Radio Frequency (S-AIR)
The Sony AIR-SA10 Wireless Speaker System utilizes proprietary S-AIR technology for multi-zone operation. S-AIR technology is designed for radio transmission of digital audio signals with no compression. This technology transfers digital audio signal with no compression using a 2.4GHz band range of ISM band, similar to wireless LANs and Bluetooth applications.
Compatibility
Only select Sony devices that are S-AIR compatible will be able to wirelessly transmit audio to the AIR-SA10 Wireless Speaker. The AIR-SA10 can receive audio from different sources and inputs of your Sony S-AIR compatible device including AM, FM, DVD, TV/Video Input, Audio Input and DMPORT. However, the button controls will not allow control of any device connected through a Sony component's DMPORT, TV/Video Input or Audio Input
S-AIR Wireless Transceiver
Your AIR-SA10 Wireless Speaker comes with a transceiver that lets the AIR-SA10 receive a wireless audio signal from your S-AIR compatible device elsewhere in your home. The S-AIR compatible device also requires a wireless transceiver, sold separately, to distribute the audio signal.
Timers
There are two timer functions built in to the AIR-SA10. The Sleep Timer will let you relax and drift asleep to your favorite music, and automatically turn off after your desired time from 10 - 90 minutes. The Play Timer will let you to wake up to your favorite music coming from the connected S-AIR compatible unit at a preset time you indicate.
