Essential Info
This system is for the home theater enthusiast who wants the sound to be heard and not seen. Sony has amazingly reduced the size of high-quality sound with these golf-ball size speakers, which handle only the highest frequencies. The mid-range and bass frequencies are provided by the 2-way subwoofer unit with its dual 100-watt amplifiers. This combination provides extremely good imaging, making viewers believe they are surrounded by full-range speakers.

High-tech Receiver and DVD PlayerThe receiver /DVD unit is also very small - only 8 ½" x 4" x 8" - so will not overwhelm your décor. Its face looks like black glass when not in use, with the displays showing clearly through the glass when running. The DVD player upscales normal DVDs to 1080i resolution, giving you a picture that rivals Blu-ray or HD-DVD.
Advanced Connection OptionsThe Sony Micro Home Theater System uses component or composite video, or HDMI, to connect to your TV. Audio inputs include one optical, one coax digital, and one analog RCA. There's also one Digital Media Port (DMP) - a new Sony protocol like HDMI with extra connections. This enables you to daisy-chain multiple Sony components to build a super system.
Digital Media PortThe demand for digital audio and video content continues to be strong. The challenge: how do you integrate music in various locations into a home theater system? The answer: Sony's DIGITAL MEDIA PORT interface. This proprietary interface adds networking and connectivity options to the home theater systems and components through optional accessories that can connect with various devices. The DMP accessory will provide the ability to control and power devices while making set up easy and operation simple to use. The DMP accessories will include a PC Client Ready device, Bluetooth® receiver and Audio Docking Stations compatible with select Network Walkman players and iPod® products. So regardless of where you store your music, Sony's DIGITAL MEDIA PORT offers an access point, provides control and integrates your portable music into a home theater system.
Automated Audio PerfectionAfter placing the system in your home theater room, connect the included Digital Cinema Auto Calibration microphone and place it where your head would be in your normal seating position. Press one button and the system measures speaker placement, distances, and time delays, and adjusts the system to provide optimized sound settings.
BRAVIA® Theatre SyncAs a leader in products with HDMI connectivity, Sony has created BRAVIA Theatre Sync technology to go beyond simple audio and video transmission. When combined with a select number of BRAVIA LCD televisions and other Sony audio and video products, control functions will also be transmitted via the HDMI cable. With "One Touch Play," operations that took several steps have been reduced to one. Press the PLAY button on the remote, watch the audio and/or the video component(s) turn on, then the BRAVIA television will turn on and switch to the correct video input.
Includes a free iPod cradleFor a limited time, we are including a free TDM-IP1 Sony iPod cradle. This connects to Sony home theater systems and receivers with DMP interface. The cradle accepts most 5G, 4G, nano, and Mini models. The on-screen display feature makes it easy to search for songs on your TV. It charges your iPod while it's docked, and there's a remote control to make it simple to operate.
Stream Your Music FilesToday, most of your music is stored as files somewhere on your computer network. By adding Sony's Digital Media Port Wi-Fi Client, you can access these files and play them through this receiver. Now you can enjoy your music in all its high fidelity splendor instead of using those cheesy PC speakers! This accessory can access your music files via either your Wi-Fi network or hardwired to your Ethernet. And when connected to your TV, you can see streamed video or the file info.
Sony DAV-IS10 System In The News"But when we cranked up music CDs and 5.1-channel DVD movies, all the sound seemed to come from the minis, at least within an acoustic "sweet spot" on the couch. Sony tricks the ear using new software in its digital signal processor, which normally modifies sound to compensate for acoustic imperfections, such as an odd-shaped room. The IS10 system applies extreme manipulation so that audio from the subwoofer on one end of the room sounds like it's coming from the speakers all around the room. In this case, what you hear is what you believe." - Popular Science magazine, August 2007
