I bought this DVD mainly for its audio calibration tools, especially its built-in test tones for speaker balancing. For this purpose, it is superb. Most receivers' multichannel inputs are not affected by the speaker balance adjustments provided for Dolby Digital and DTS. If you buy a Blu-Ray player with built-in Dolby True HD and DTS HD decoding, this disc will help you play those surround modes optimally through an older receiver that contains a multichannel input. The presumption here is that the Blu-Ray player contains the proper setup tools. Bottom line: this disc helped me to upgrade to Dolby True HD and DTS HD without replacing my fairly new receiver. Not bad, spending about $20 to save about $1000. The disc is very easy to set up and use. Its video calibration tools are designed for CRT displays, which have gone the way of the dinosaur. So I would NOT recommend this disc for those wanting to calibrate one of the newer flat-panel HDTVs.

Is a comprehensive guide to home theater equipement. The infromation is relativily basic, but applicible to all systems. S&V is a great tool for "fine tunning" a system.
