By taking an online class, you'll be able to learn from the comfort of your home office. When you sign up for Residential Communication, you'll receive a printed course guide and a quick-reference guide, a field guide covering technical terms and definitions. You'll be able to access the online course for three months by using your assigned user ID and password. Students should have a basic knowledge of wire pulling and cable specifications.
Residential Communication is an 11-part training session on the design and installation of advanced wired and wireless phone systems, fax machines, door phones, paging systems, intercom systems, and answering/voicemail systems. This course provides practical information, explaining what installers need to know before working on an installation project.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to define different types of communications systems, to design and install a home communications system, and to test and troubleshoot these systems. Special in-depth articles provide deeper background and technical information on critical topics, and project management tips coach installers on good management practices. The course includes informative text and detailed color diagrams. A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the online course.
