Very, very weak. This is a rather slap-dash effort, primarily a Powerpoint presentation thrown together from a bunch of different sources. It is written to about the level of a sixth grader sample slide: Home technologies provide many benefits to the homeowner, including: convenience, safety, security, financial gain, access to new services/technology, and feels like the kind of thing you might get in a junior high school shop class. It certainly would be useless to any professional installer, and wouldn't, I believe, provide any new information at all to anyone who is sophisticated enough to have already found the SmartHome web site. I suppose that if you happened wake up some morning with no knowledge whatsoever of anything related to technology, it might provide a quick overview of the field and help you understand the general difference between communications, entertainment, lighting control and environment and energy management seriously! but it certainly isn't worth $149. The course length is listed in the SmartHome description as 2 hours, and the course materials say this course is divided into [14] 30 to 45 minute training sections, but anyone with the very least bit of experience in the field could skim the whole thing in 10-15 minutes...not that there is much to get out of it.
