Essential Info

The Sooteater RCH205 Rotary Chimney Cleaning System cleans wood stove and fireplace flues. Spinning chimney whip removes dangerous soot and creosote buildup better than a brush and helps prevent flue fires. Unique trim to fit design is compatible with multiple flue sizes. Will work on round from 5 to 18'' in diameter; 12'' x 12'' square, rectangle or oval flues up to 8 x 12''. Won't scratch metal flues like a steel brush does. Fits through tight areas and on any drill and spins forward and reverse. Cleans from the bottom up without getting on a ladder so you can DIY and save money. Includes six 3 foot long flexible rods with reversible bottom link quick connect system.

    This kit provides someone with a metal chimney a way to clan out the creosote and soot without damaging the chimney. it was a relief to get the right kit after I had to return the first shipment. This was what I needed for my wood stove chimney.

    great system, I used it to clean from the bottom cleanout, by attaching a scraper to the business end instead of the string trimmer. Got a scary amount of creosote out & the poles had the perfect flex/strength for the job. Our woodstove works much better now!

    Pros: Can't say enough good things about this awesome flexible lil device. This thing paid for itself on the first use. I actually bought 2 of these since my chimney is around 33' tall. The best part is that you do not have to climb up to the chimney - you can use it from the bottom-up. Cons: The quick connect is not so quick and takes some effort to both connect and disconnect.

    Worked Great! Cleaned from Bottom Up. Needed the extra two rods to extend reach to 24ft. Release buttons could be a little easier to operate, but really not all that bad. Took about 60 minutes from beginning to end. Highly Recommended!

    Works well. I have a 90 degree bend at the clean out so you have to be very careful not to break the rods. It's a 36 foot chimney though. Using two kits I was able to do the whole thing from the bottom even with the 90 degree bend.

    This item worked really well considering its cost. My stove pipe is 6 inch and 36 feet high with just the stove pipe at a right angle at the bottom for a clean out. It was most cost effective for me just to get 2 kits for the 36 feet. One of the rods did break, since I was pushing the angle near the limit and the instructions do say that breakage may occur at 90 degree angle or beyond. Since one rod broke I will buy another kit so I can reach the top and have the spare parts. This still beats paying for a chimney sweep year after year or climbing up on the steep roof myself to do it.

    Worked exactly as advertised. I thought the connecting clips at the end of each rod could be a little easier to use (or just need some break-in time), however, the overall system was great for a DIYer.

    What a great tool!! I have a clean out in the basement and my chimeny extends about 10' above the roof onthe 2nd floor. I have a SS liner in a masonary chimeny and this tool worked perfectly. I would recommend thjis to anyone. Also took a hint from another review and made a wood pice to fit the opening of the clean out with a hole just large enough for the sooteater shafts to slide through. Almost NO mess to clean up.

    Cleaning my chimney was quick and easy. I put the hose of my shop vac as close to the flue as I could (with the shop vac it self outside) so there was no dust in the house. The hardest part of the process was disconnecting the rod sections as I was pulling the Sooteater back down the chimney. SmartHome had the lowest price on the internet.
