Because it uses 10 ultra-bright, energy-efficient LEDs instead of a standard bulb, this flashlight can illuminate for over a month with the same batteries. In fact, after leaving the high-intensity LED flashlight on for one month continuously, the manufacturer's engineers could still use it to read a newspaper in the dark. This industrial-grade version also has an amazingly low cost per hour of operation — lower than one cent per hour (cost = light elements and batteries). Compare that to the 46 cents per hour it costs to operate a regular flashlight! The Lightwave 4000 Full-Size High-Intensity LED Flashlight runs on three D batteries, sold separately.
