The Roomba Discovery robotic floor vac is easy to use, but under the hood it's a complex robot featuring a high-efficiency particle vacuum and cleaning brushes that provide exceptional surface cleaning. It may be circular, but the Roomba Discovery still cleans edges and corners using its spinning side brush, which rotates outside the unit's housing diameter to gather debris from tough-to-reach spots, cleaning right up to the wall. The Roomba Discovery can detect concentrated dirt and will focus its cleaning with increased intensity on these areas. In addition, you can spot clean an area of three feet in diameter.
At the push of a button, the Roomba automatically calculates how long it needs to work to clean your entire room. On a full battery charge, the Roomba Discovery will run a full 120 minutes, and the included charger will power the battery back up in less than three hours. Keep a spare APS Battery charging, and you'll be able to vacuum all day with almost no down time! You can even shave half an hour off of the standard charging time with the Roomba Discovery Rapid Charger (sold separately), which will get your Roomba back out on the floor in just 2 1/2 hours.
Two Virtual Walls are included with the Roomba Discovery. Confine your Roomba to a designated area with these units, which block doorways with an invisible beam that the Roomba reads as a wall. Additional Virtual Walls are sold separately. Virtual Walls require two D batteries, sold separately.
When Roomba senses that it's trapped and can't move, it employs pre-programmed escape drills to free itself, and Artificial Intelligence makes Roomba smart enough to know not to fall down the stairs. Best of all, the Roomba Discovery has the built-in intelligence to return to its own charging Docking Base when it gets tired to recharge its battery. It will even go back to the included Docking Base when it is finished cleaning a room.
A Remote Control is included to power the Roomba Discovery up from its home base and to tell it where to start a cleaning cycle. The remote also allows you to direct the Roomba to specific areas. The remote requires two AA batteries, sold separately. A replacement remote control is also available. You can even schedule your Roomba to clean at any convenient time - even if you're not at home - by upgrading with the Roomba Scheduler Accessory Pack.
The Roomba Discovery cleans hardwood, tile, linoleum, and low-to-medium pile carpet, automatically adjusting its cleaning head for a smooth transition between floor surfaces. Air filters prevent dust and dirt from entering your Roomba's vacuum system or your air. It is recommended that you replace your air filter every one to two months; Replacement Filters are sold separately. Three replacement filters are also included in the Replenishment Kit, which also includes multiple brushes to replace the originals included on your Roomba.
The Roomba Discovery is even wall-mountable, so it won't take up valuable floor space in your utility closet.
