I just installed this kit on each of two English coal grates. This kit will work great on decorative gas logs or such, but don't try this on a fireplace system where the firebox and burner come as a unit. Also be careful to keep the battery pack and the control module away from heat when installing it which can be difficult in a small fireplace. A gas professionl should hook it up for you. The kit includes everything you need to convert a straight manual valve or other standing pilot system to electronic ignition. The electronic ignition will save you about eight gallons of propane or seven therms of natural gas per month versus the standing pilot. It won't pay for itself quickly unless gas prices go up again, but it does save quite a bit of gas and will keep you from having to get down on your hands and knees to light a pilot light.
