Programmable thermostats come in handy, but central heating doesn't provide the same cozy warmth of a gas fireplace. The Programmable Fireplace Thermostat/Remote adds the convenience of a programmable thermostat to your gas fireplace. Program the system to turn on at specific times on specific days of the week, or set the timer to enjoy the fireplace for a limited time. You'll even be able to use the included RF remote control to manage the unit from up to 20 feet away!

The Programmable Fireplace Thermostat/Remote system was developed to provide a safe, reliable, and user-friendly remote control system for a gas fireplace. The system can be operated using the thermostat or manually from the remote. Additional features include a child-proof lock. If you don't need the programming feature, try the Fireplace Thermostat/Remote instead. This unit has all of the features of the programmable system except the scheduled heating.

A Wireless Fireplace Thermostat/Remote is also available. Even if you don't need a programmable thermostat attached to your fireplace, you can still enjoy controlling it remotely with the Battery-Operated Fireplace Remote. Just getting started in installing your fireplace? Try the Natural Gas Valve w/Hi/Lo Remote, a full safety pilot system that connects to your gas line.

"I didn't install this myself, so I can't comment on how easy it was. Programming the remote is pretty easy. This unit installed for about 3 weeks, but have only limited use since the weather has been warm. However, I have had an issue with the buttons on the remote not activating the ignitor the first time I push them. Going through the menu system a 2nd time has (so far) worked to fire up the fireplace. Only 3 stars because the jury is still out... I'd rate Smarthome service at 3.5 stars. I unsuccessfully attempted to order it online 2-3 times before I gave up and called the toll free number (and then crossed my fingers hoping I didn't get 3 units billed/shipped to me!). Installation was a snap for my gas logs - just clipped on two wires, installed the batteries, and it was ready to go. In hindsight, I don't think we needed the programmable functions.
