It works OK. I mean it will tell if you there is some voltage in a wire near by, but sometimes it seems overly sensitive meaning that it is hard to tell what is the line and what is neutral when it starts going off when I'm 1 foot away from any wires. Other times it works exactly as I would have expected (only when nearly touching the live wire). Can't beat the price though and most importantly it always did detect voltage (didn't miss).

In my opinion every home should have one. Detect electricity without having to touch it. Description was off... mine uses 1 AAA battery (which is better than button batteries)

This item worked well enough, we were able to trace hot wires. the only thing we found is it also appeared to detect studs in the walls. either that or our walls have many lines.

Fantastic, now I can look forward to Christmas again! I hated putting up the Christmas lights to no end; try and find the bulb that is killing the whole string. Now with the voltage detector I can plug the light string in and trace down the line to where the voltaqe stops and bingo there is the bad light bulb. What a great tool! Thanks
