Altogether, this top-of-the-line cable measures 0.69 inches in diameter and combines two Category 6 twisted-pair cables, two RG-6 quad shield coaxial cables and two fiber optic cables. The Category 6 cable is used primarily for ethernet computer networking, telephone service, even security systems. Coaxial cables are used primarily as a whole-house video distribution network allowing access to home theater components from any room in the house. Although uses for fiber optic cable today are still somewhat limited, it's expected that they'll be used for in-house computer networking with ultra high-speed data transfer and digital audio distribution in the near future.
