Self-powered, using "Green" solar technology, the WSC15-I0W Wireless Passive Infrared Occupancy Sensor has its own built-in solar-cell collector for absorbing sun light. Ambient light, reflected near or around empty spaces, surrounding the WSC15-I0W will be collected then converted into DC voltage used for powering this occupancy sensor. Ambient light can also be used as a trigger for remote lighting receiver modules such as in-wall switches, and plug-in lamp or appliance controllers. Solar-power being converted into usable energy by the solar cell will operate the WSC15-I0W without the use of batteries or wiring, redefining the term "Energy Efficient".
Advanced sensing technology featured by the WSC15-I0W is created by a small Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor housed within the unique, multi-zoned Fresnel optic lens. Fresnel lens', compared to others on the market, have the greatest resistance against false activations. "Manual Masking" is the technique used as a preventative measure against the unwanted detection of motion (mostly experienced near hallways). Masking only a few of the dozens of detection zones established by the Fresnel lens will blind the sensor to high-traffic areas causing the undesirable use of lights in near-by rooms. Any moving heat signature can and will be detected by the sensor when within the proper range. Immobile sources of heat will not trigger the sensor or create false alarms.
Quickly and easily mounting to the ceiling of virtually any building, the wireless WSC15-I0W self-powered PIR occupancy sensor provides a wonderfully-futuristic "Green" solution for everything from the largest commercial (Schools & Hospitals), to the smallest residential (Garage Lighting) occupancy controlled lighting needs. Intended for use with the LevNet RF WSS10 Wireless Wall Switch Receiver-link and/or WSS0S Wireless Self-Powered Remote Switch-link.
Once installed, powered, and operating in the standard "Manual-ON"/ "Auto-Off´ modes, WSC15-I0W will function for 48 hours without the need of batteries or any form of external solar-power source. In this mode the switch will have to be manually activated and will have a factory defaulted ten minute count down time. Meaning once the sensor has had ten minutes of idle time, without motion, the load attached to the receiver will turn off. Auto On/ Auto Off, Walk-Through, and Timeout modes will all be programmed by accessing the provided dip switches housed at the bottom of each receiver, load controller. Walk-Through mode uses a time delay similar to what is commonly referred to as a countdown, but will turn the load off after no motion has been detected for the auto-set 2.5 minutes. If motion is present longer than the expected 2.5 minutes, an occupied operating mode will take over turning the load off using user programmed times of 10, 20, or 30 minutes. For continuous uninterrupted use or "Auto-On" operation of the WSC04 users will need the install three
"AAA" batteries or low voltage power supply.(sold separately). In this mode the device is no longer self-powered.
Note: This Occupancy Sensor has a minimum light requirement of 40 LUX.
