Essential Info
Wire security contacts, sensors, motion detectors, security keypads or audio/video control communication systems with this high-quality copper conductor cable! It's UL Class 2 Rated for in-wall use and is packed in an easy-dispensing box with a built-in spool. No more tangled, twisted wire! Cable is length marked in feet for easy measurement. Color coded. UnShielded Cable (solid conductor) UL Class 2Use unshielded cable for supplying low voltage power or for communication of ON/OFF-type voltage signals of low frequency. Shielded Cable (stranded conductor) UL Class 2Use shielded cable to minimize the "antenna" effect that occurs with cable of any significant length. This "antenna" effect will produce low voltage interference that can affect sensitive devices and cause erratic operation. Shielded cable is also ideal for communication between devices, sensitive analog sensors (eg. temperature), or wires that have to be run close to the 110V AC wire. If in doubt, use shielded. Ground wire acts as an extra conductor. UL Class Rating: The higher the class number, the better the cable. Most cities in the US require in-wall cable to be Class 2 or higher to meet electrical code. If the cable is not UL rated, the cable should only be used outside walls. Cable Gauge: The lower the gauge the thicker the wire.
