The DAC and headphone output in most laptops and desktops are typically not designed to deliver high quality sound. This can result in subtle errors in the rebuilding process, diminishing audio quality. The uDAC-2SE creates a warmer, more detailed approximation of the source file. The uDAC-2SE are designed for Asynchronous USB Audio mode. The difference between synchronous and asynchronous USB audio is detectable by most. Asynchronous USB audio is the most technically advanced way to enjoy your audio in that it has a feedback loop so that the amount of data in the frame can be controlled. Traditional USB connections use a one way digital connection for music replay and use the computer's bus frame rate as source for the clock which is less stable than a fixed one. A computer sadly cannot maintain perfect timing of the data sent via USB. Asynchronous USB uses a clock housed near the DAC and allows it to drive the converter directly, thereby not relying on the instable computer's clock and almost guarantees precise sound.
