This 250W, 8" In-Wall Subwoofer adds powerful bass with an elegant, almost invisible installation. Dual voice coil allows one subwoofer to be used for both left and right channels.
This new, updated model now has the cross over board attached directly to the speaker. Simply run the left and right speaker outputs to the crossover board, and then continue the speaker cables to the individual right and left speakers. It divides the frequencies so that the bass sounds are directed to the In-Wall Subwoofer and the higher frequencies are send on to the full-range left and right speakers.

To Get the Most Out of Your Home Theater, a Subwoofer is Essential
Many film special effects are extremely demanding in the low frequency range. They require the reproduction of long, drawn-out rumbling bass sounds for earthquakes, explosions and dinosaur footsteps. Subwoofers can reproduce these sounds that few full-range speakers can handle well. Furthermore, subwoofers can actually protect and enhance the performance of your existing full-range speakers. They filter out the low frequencies and pass through only the higher frequencies so your full-range speakers don’t have to struggle to reproduce the high wattage bass signals.
Bass signals are relatively non-directional. In smaller rooms, it is possible to use one subwoofer for both left and right channels. Dual voice coils on the subwoofers below isolate the left and right input signals that drive the same speaker. Purists and those with large home theaters will get the best results from the use of three subwoofers. One for the center channel and one each for the left and right. This will more accurately reproduce effects such as a center screen explosion followed by reverberations or additional explosions from the left and right.
