Overview

  • Transmitter converts IR commands into RF signals and transmits them to the receiver by your A/V components
  • Powermid receiver required
  • Expandable system has a 100-foot range through walls, doors and floors

Essential Info

If you use the Powermid system to use your existing IR remote to send commands through walls and floors, you can expand your system to control equipment from more than one room with this extra transmitter. Plug the Powermid Extra Transmitter into any standard 120-volt outlet, and it will convert your IR remote's commands into RF signals that can travel up to 100 feet, even through walls and floors, to your A/V components.

Super easy to use and set up. I have one of these pyramids (RF Transmitter) in every room of my house that has a TV and I have a Receiver pyramid in my electronics closet which contains all my satelite receivers, DVD players, and VCR. I control any one of these devices, 4 satelite receivers, from any room using the corresponding device's remote control just by pointing the remote at the pyramid, Which is on or next to the TV anyway.
    MARGIE -- milford, OH   7/26/2010
Great service, rapid shipping. Product works better than others I've had, with the signal being stronger and traveling further.
    DOUG -- sabetha, KS   7/8/2009
Have owned a pair of Powermid's for years now, and have always been happy with the setup. Now we have built a deck on the back of the house and with the added transmitter I can take my satellite / universal remote outside and change satellite radio stations as well as control the volume of my deck speakers. Very cool. The only loss is the fact that bright sunlight blocks remote signal at times. Otherwise very satisfied.
    GREGG -- tupelo, MS   6/7/2009
I've had a couple of these for years, and they've always worked well. I bought this additional transmitter to work and an existing transmitter and receiver, and it works as advertised. However, I am having trouble with apparently weak signal strength, which I actually think is due to the receiver not retransmitting IR commands as well as it once did. This problem began before I bought this add-on unit. I'm not sure if I just need to replace the receiver, or if something is interfering with the RF signal. In general, I recommend this product.
    KEVIN P -- southern pines, NC   4/28/2009
I've been using these devices for years--they just work.
    BRENDA -- manchester, TN   12/8/2008
Works great. Just plug it in the wall. Didn't give 5 stars because it shouldn't cost as much as it does, but I'd be surprised if one could find another remote tramsmitter that works better.
    DOUGLAS -- loveland, CO   11/24/2008
    Excellent. Worked perfectly.
    GERALD -- rome, NY   8/4/2008
    Range could be better
BRIAN -- kansas city, MO   3/3/2008
Returned as they wouldn't communicate with my Scientific Atlanta HD DVR box. Would work the TV, just not the cable box. Even with the extension emitter.
    TQ -- seattle, WA   1/26/2008
The transmitters seem to have a little difficulty picking up the infra-red signals from the remotes. It seems like the inherent pyramid design might be the cause of this, but I haven't tried tilting the transmitters to test this theory. Overall, still probably a better deal then the costly RF remotes (though it's smarter to buy 2 combo packages than an extra Powermid Transmitter).
    Howard -- princeton, NJ   7/1/2008
Simply put, this is an excellent product. We've had ours for about 10 years and have purchased additional transmitter pyramids since on site today to by another. We have our DirecTV receiver in our family room with the receiver pyramid and two soon to be three transmitter pyramids in other rooms. So, no matter which room/TV you're using, the main DirecTV box at the other end of the house is broadcasting to it. As far as picking up the signal, at times you do need to aim the remote just right, but you also need to be sure the transmitter and receiver pyramids are in open areas - transmitter not inside an entertainment console for example, as you may impact the signal transmission/reception.
    FLORIN A -- surfside beach, SC   8/2/2007
It does what it is supposed to do.
    MARYLOU -- skokie, IL   6/20/2007
The extra transmitter allows me to access satellite service from the additional TV in my basement - what a lifesaver!
    ROY -- merrimack, NH   3/10/2007
Does everything it's supposed to, allowing me to watch my modulated TiVo signal and control it from anywhere in the house.
    JOHN -- cary, NC   2/8/2007
These are hard to find and work well. We already had a system setup with them and it was good to find more.
    KENT -- murphy, TX   1/19/2007
A simple solution allowing a central system to be operated from other rooms in the house.
SCOTT -- travelers rest, SC   1/7/2007
Very reliable rock solid device. Never had any problems out of the system
MATHEW -- new port richey, FL   12/13/2006
Very well designed for easy and efficient electronic additions.
TERRY DEAN -- richmond, IN   11/7/2006
Just what I wanted to solve the problem.
    RAY -- bonaire, GA   10/27/2006
Great Device. I have my audio devices hidden in our bedroom dresser, and this allows me to control them without having to open the doors. Also put one in the bathroom to be able to select music.
