The Smarthome SELECT 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer has been manufactured to meet our customers' need for exceptional sound, high-quality construction, and ultimate value, representing everything that a great speaker should be. If you are planning to install a surround sound system, or simply want to augment your existing surround sound system with some low frequency bass, you need a dedicated channel for this freestanding powered subwoofer to complement the high-end and mid-range acoustics so you can feel every bit of bone jarring of audio.
The Smarthome SELECT 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer has several great features that help bring your home theater life. The adjustable frequency control knob is very useful as it allows you to dial in the frequency of bass that is most conducive to your listening environment and lifestyle, so equalized at the lowest frequencies to provide surprisingly deep, robust, or adjust higher if you only want to have a little bit bass. The adjustable Gain knob furthers this by allowing you to select a specific amount of power the output the subwoofer uses. To really get your surround in sync, the subwoofer even has a built in phase adjustment, so if you feel you subwoofer and in-ceiling/in-wall speakers are out of sync and cancelling the low frequencies out of each other, switch the phase adjustment from Normal to Reverse. For added convenience, the subwoofer has built-in power sense, so it can be set to AUTOmatically turn on or shut-off whenever power is applied to your receiver; optionally you can manually set it to be Always On or Always Off.
The rear of the unit has left and right RCA jack and spring terminals that allow you to plug in peripheral speakers. So if your receiver has a single or dual RCA subwoofer output or pre-amp outputs no problem, just connect it to the RCA inputs of the subwoofer (if it is a single output use a RCA Y adapter cable). But if you receiver doesn't have a subwoofer out, no problem. The spring terminals inputs will allow you to connect you right and left audio to the from your receiver to the subwoofer, which will separate out the low frequency signal, and then you can use the spring terminal out connectors to connect to your left and right channels
This speaker will work perfect as the subwoofer of a 3 Channel, 5 Channel, 7 Channel or 9 Channel Surround Sound System, using Smarthome SELECT in-ceiling
