The Xtra Link 2 performs just as I needed it to. I have a stereo receiver in one room that I wanted to control from another. The best and most reliable solution I found was using the Xtra Link 2 over my existing coax cable. In order to make it function properly, I needed some additional hardware, as I will describe. Since I have numerous TVs connected to coax cables throughout my house, at the cable junction in my basement I isolated the cables that came from the room in which I was going to use the remote and the room that had the stereo receiver. I joined these using a CHANNEL PLUS 2512 DC + IR Passing 2-Way Splitter/Combiner so that the IR signal and DC power would be passed through the splitter from one room to the next. Then I took the input from the external cable signal and ran it through a XANTECH 203-00 DC BLOCKER so that it isolated the IR signal from the coax cables feeding the rest of the house. So, to describe it another way: the cable signal coming into the house goes to a multi-room splitter. I removed the two cables that ran to the rooms I wanted to connect with the IR signal and replaced them with a short coax cable connected to the IR Blocker connected, in turn, to the DC and IR passing splitter. Everything works great!

This item is great when it works. I've had to buy two additional kits to keep two units working due to parts "going bad". Very poor quality manufacturing!

Works as advertised. Transmitter had to be mounted over the IR receiver to work consistently.

This thing is brilliant - screw the cable guys. I was paying almost $25 a month just for digital and dvr service in my bedroom only to watch the daily show in bed. With this I got rid of both and watch the DVR from my living room, no problems with hook up and no problems with remote and as a bonus I get al the other stuff on my DVR if I want something else to watch. WELL WORTH THE COST PAYS YOU BACK IN 2-3 MONTHS, WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL.

This gadget has allowed me to control the DVR in my living room from the detached garage. Initially my previously clear picture became snowy.I later determined that the xtra link may have shorted out some poor cable connections. Fixed the connections; now all is good. Couldn't tell Part 282M from 283M as neither were labeled. Still don't know if I have one of each or two of the same part.

Thought this unit was the one I needed for moy application. It turned out that I actually needed the Dinky Link system. Tech support was outstanding durring my troubleshooting of which system I needed for my application.

Great product - Works exactly as promised. I used it to operate my home theater and set top box, not a tv in different room, and it works perfectly. This is a device that makes your media viewing experience wife and mother-in-law friendly.
