Overview

  • Enjoy the same TV program in another room - splits the coax signal
  • Control the "base" TV by sending IR signals over the coax
  • Kit contains everything you need!

Essential Info

Add another TV to your VCR, cable box or satellite system. The Xtra Link2 splits the video signal so it can be viewed by more than one TV! The person watching the second TV still has full control over the cable box, satellite receiver, or VCR. And you don't need to pull any new wires - signals are passed through the existing video cable running between the two sets.

Note: This product is not compatiable with LCD and Plasma televisions.

Sends TV Signals and IR Control Signals Over One Coax Cable!
The Xtra Link2 system provides full remote control operation of a satellite receiver, cable box or VCR from a second room by sharing the coaxial cable connecting your video equipment to this second room's TV. Place the IR Receiver on top of the remote room TV. The IR Injector supplies TV signals to the television and "injects" the IR commands into the coax cable. The Xtra Link system uses the coax cable that carries the TV RF signal from the source equipment in the main room to the remote room, to send the IR control signals back to the source equipment. The coaxial cable may be up to one mile in length.

Need to hook up a third room?
Use the Xtra Links2 Xpansion Kit. It includes all the parts you need to successfully watch and control a video device from a third room. Specifically, the kit includes an infrared receiver, a INJ94 injector, DC power supply, and two short coax jumper cables with RF connectors. Like all the TVs connected to the Xtra Link2 system, the expansion room will also have to view the same program as the first two TVs.

Add the Bypass Kit when you don't have a straight-through coax between the Iinjector and the Coupler. The By-Pass Kit will be needed if a spiltter or amplifier is in line.

The first unit came and it didn't work. I recieved the TV picture but was unable to change the direct TV channels. Smarthome did a great job replacing unit. The second unit worked for two weeks and it failed.

This is a wonderful product and the perfect solution to replace a barely functional solution I had been struggling with until I discovered this. Extremely easy to install. I am already thinking about purchasing another to extend IR control to another room in my house to which video programming is streamed from the central location.

    Works as advertised.
    NATHAN -- westerville, OH   4/19/2012
Good overall product, however, out of 4 kits I had to exchange 3 because the IR recievers went out after a few days.

It workss but I think it is an obsolete version. Too sensitive to LCD tvs.
MARCIA -- sioux city, IA   3/9/2012
Product works quite well after replacement on defect and service on a problem was very good. Thanks

This kit works better than I thought it would right out of the box. The hardest part of the whole job for me was running 75 ohmn cable between the (3) TV's I use with the cable box. If you want cable on all your conventional TV's(no LCD/Plasma) with just (1) cable box this is what you need to buy.
    STEPHEN -- selinsgrove, PA   2/12/2012
I wish the kit would have better specified that it is not compatible with LCD Tv's. I sourced the appropriate kit elsewhere to save money, since I needed a dl85.
    Steve -- Pennsylvania   1/18/2012
Worked fine for 2 minutes. The power light on the IR receiver gets very dim and does not appear to be working correctly. The item works sporadically and will be returned. I had high hopes for this item, but have been very left down.

The Xtra Link 2 performs just as I needed it to. I have a stereo receiver in one room that I wanted to control from another. The best and most reliable solution I found was using the Xtra Link 2 over my existing coax cable. In order to make it function properly, I needed some additional hardware, as I will describe. Since I have numerous TVs connected to coax cables throughout my house, at the cable junction in my basement I isolated the cables that came from the room in which I was going to use the remote and the room that had the stereo receiver. I joined these using a CHANNEL PLUS 2512 DC + IR Passing 2-Way Splitter/Combiner so that the IR signal and DC power would be passed through the splitter from one room to the next. Then I took the input from the external cable signal and ran it through a XANTECH 203-00 DC BLOCKER so that it isolated the IR signal from the coax cables feeding the rest of the house. So, to describe it another way: the cable signal coming into the house goes to a multi-room splitter. I removed the two cables that ran to the rooms I wanted to connect with the IR signal and replaced them with a short coax cable connected to the IR Blocker connected, in turn, to the DC and IR passing splitter. Everything works great!

It works perfectly and was easy to set up.
    JONATHAN -- oakland, CA   1/3/2011
This item is great when it works. I've had to buy two additional kits to keep two units working due to parts "going bad". Very poor quality manufacturing!
    THOMAS -- lynchburg, VA   12/12/2010
service is the greatest. products that work as discribed. This extra link worked great with a distance of 300 ft. to my work shop. would recomend to anyone.
WIDELL INDUSTRI -- port richey, FL   8/30/2010
Works as advertised. Transmitter had to be mounted over the IR receiver to work consistently.
    ROBERT -- phoenix, AZ   5/16/2010
I installed the unit, and it worked right out of the box. For anybody who wants to slave two (or more) TV's to a master TV, and maintain IR control over the master, this works great.
    ARTHUR -- naples, FL   4/1/2010
This thing is brilliant - screw the cable guys. I was paying almost $25 a month just for digital and dvr service in my bedroom only to watch the daily show in bed. With this I got rid of both and watch the DVR from my living room, no problems with hook up and no problems with remote and as a bonus I get al the other stuff on my DVR if I want something else to watch. WELL WORTH THE COST PAYS YOU BACK IN 2-3 MONTHS, WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL.
ANDREW -- west bloomfield, MI   3/12/2010
Easy to install and works great!
THOMAS -- cabin john, MD   2/26/2010
I have to say, the product has worked better than I really thought that it would. Total install time took about 5 minutes, and since it has been in I have had zero issues with it. I will probably by more so that I can stop paying for a couple more cable boxes.
