By setting up a whole-house audio/video distribution system, you will be able to access common components from any room in your home, even controlling them using IR commands from a wall-mounted keypad. The 4-Source LCD Keypad sends IR commands to a 4-Zone, 4-Source Xantech Controller/Amplifier, which distributes audio and video sources throughout your home. With four audio/video source inputs, and four zone-specific outputs, any source can be selected and controlled from any room with an installed 4-Source LCD Keypad. In order to connect the system, homes will require cat. 5 cable run to each keypad, speaker wires run to each zone, and coaxial cable run to each outlet that will have a connected television or monitor. Controller/Amplifiers and all cabling are sold separately.

The 4-Source LCD Keypad is easy to use. Press the power button and select an audio or video source. From the keypad, you'll be able to adjust the volume, select a television channel, fast-forward through a DVD or VHS tape, or even adjust the balance, treble and bass. When activated, the keypad lights up, highlighting the selected source. The backlight turns off after a user-determined amount of time, so it won't be a distraction. A multi-colored LED on the Keypad face indicates ON/OFF, System Busy, IR output and other system functions.
The keypad display is configurable using Dragon Drop-IR software (included with the Controller/Amplifiers) to allow programming the particular sources in a system. Just as the keypad can be set for simple operation, it can also be programmed for sophisticated sequences, or macros, to send out strings of up to 40 commands to turn the system on, select a source, and play that device all from a single button press. The display on the keypad is configurable to show the selectable sources graphically. Use the preprogrammed bitmap icons or create your own.
The 4-Source LCD Keypad is a flush-mount wall unit. Its slim profile and mounting bracket make it a snap to install in the included back box. Twin RJ45 connectors allow easy connection to CAT5 cable and expansion to two keypads per zone. The Keypad also features an infrared receiver, so a hand-held remote (sold separately) can be used to control the system and source components from across the room. If multiple zones are linked, commands and messages are transmitted to the other linked Keypads.
Standard functions such as Power, Volume Up/Down, Mute, Channel Up/Down and Source selection are laid out in easy-to-read buttons. For additional control, the center of the keypad is a multi-function cursor array for controlling CD, VCR and DVD functions as well as navigating Satellite receiver functions.
Additional features include adjustable IR sensitivity and adjustable LCD backlight brightness. A keypad is also available without the LCD screen.
