By setting up a whole-house audio/video distribution system, you will be able to access common components from any room in your home, even controlling them using IR commands from a wall-mounted keypad. The Xantech 4-Zone, 4-Source A/V Controller/Amplifier is the key component in a whole-house audio/video distribution, audio amplification and control system. With four audio/video source inputs, and four zone-specific outputs, any source can be selected and controlled from any room. Additionally, for the home with multiple users, multiple sources can be selected in different rooms simultaneously! Each zone can control the 4-Zone, 4-Source A/V Controller/Amplifier through a 4-Source LCD Keypad (sold separately) connected via cat. 5 wiring. A keypad is also available without the LCD screen. In order to connect the system, homes will require cat. 5 cable run to each keypad, speaker wires run to each zone, and coaxial cable run to each outlet that will have a connected television or monitor. All cabling is sold separately.

The 4-Zone, 4-Source A/V system is comprised of the Controller/Amplifier, four keypads, and four IR emitters (emitters included with the controller). Once connected, you'll be able to control all aspects of audio and video distribution and control from each of the keypads in the four zones using standard IR commands to control the source components. Select from any of the four connected sources, adjust the volume, and indulge in the sound of the 4-Zone, 4-Source A/V Controller/Amplifier's clear and powerful 25 watts per channel. Sources that can be connected include a DVD player, VCR, satellite system, or any other source with an audio and video output. A remote control is also available for this system. Put one in every connected zone in your home, and you won't even need to walk to the keypad to adjust the volume or change the source!
Sources connect to the 4-Zone, 4-Source A/V Controller/Amplifier via component video and RCA audio connectors. For IR command control of the connected components, simply plug the supplied IR emitters into the appropriate IR out jacks and attach the emitter to the component's sensor window. A fifth IR emitter port is included for one common IR out for control of other devices, such as motorized drapery systems, TV lifts and lighting systems.
Programming the IR commands to control the connected components from each zone keypad is as simple as a mouse click using the included Dragon Drop-IR™ programming software, which shows you all aspects of system operation at a glance. The software CD-ROM contains a complete set of factory-learned IR Codes, but it can learn commands from your existing remotes, as well. Just select the command using the software and hold the remote up to the IR learning eye on the Controller/Amplifier before pressing the command button.
You can link multiple zones together at any time for convenience, such as linking the living room and dining room for a dinner party. If desired, you can also set the system into a priority lockout mode. Where usually any zone can access and control any source at any time, if the system is in priority lockout mode, one zone will access a specific source, preventing other zones from controlling it until the first zone releases it. You can also prevent certain zones from accessing certain sources at all, such as locking out adult content from children's rooms.
The 4-Zone, 4-Source A/V Controller/Amplifier distributes both audio and video throughout your home. But if you prefer, you can install the audio only version of this system for whole-house audio exclusively. Two MRC44 Controllers can be used to expand the number of zones in a MRC44 system to eight, although an additional amplifier/splitter and serial control combiner will be required. Larger homes or other spaces should instead try the 8-Zone, 8-Source A/V Controller/Amplifier; an audio only version of this system is also available.
