If you are using a Xantech DIGI-5 1-Source, 4-Zone or a 4-Source, 4-Zone Cat. 5 Whole-Home Digital Audio Distribution Kit you can use this Local Source Wall Plate to connect a source (CD player, MP3 player, etc.) located within a remote room away from the main distribution system. This product is the ideal accessory for either of the Audio Distribution Kits, letting you enjoy whole-home audio in one moment and in the next moment you can switch to local source within a zone. The wall plate fits in a standard single-gang junction box and has a Decora-style finish. Using a cat. 5 cable connection, it will easily connect with a Xantech Keypad Amplifier for a local source input or the Xantech Digital Distribution System Hub via for a remote source input; both are included with a Digital Audio Distribution Kit. The DIGI 5 Local Source Wall Plate provides input connections for Analog Audio, Digital Optical Audio, Digital Coaxial and RJ-45 outputs for the cat. 5 cable connection to a keypad or hub. Additionally, an infrared (IR) output has been built-in for IR Control of the connected source. The DIGI 5 Local Source Wall Plate gives you the power of choice, letting you override a source input from the main system and listen to a local music source in a separate room. Please Note: Multi-channel digital audio formats (5.1, 7.1, etc.) are not supported by the DIGI 5 Local Source Wall Plate.

Connecting the Plate to a Keypad and/or Hub
The Input Wall Plate and all associated components are wired using cat. 5 terminated to the T-568A Wiring. When pre-wiring, run lengths of CAT. 5 from the pre-determined equipment location (the "head-end") to each Amplifier Keypad location. The cat. 5 cable routes all audio, power, IR and status information needed for full system operation. Use a 110 Punchdown tool to connect the cat. 5 wiring to the Digital Audio Distribution Hub.
Note: For maximum performance over long runs (more than 150 ft) run an additional 16AWG 2-conductor wire for external power.
IR Out
Connect a standard IR emitter from the IR OUT port on the front of the wall plate to the IR receiver on the front of the audio source. For sources that have an IR Input port on the back of the unit, use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm mono interconnect cable instead.
Rear Connections
When utilizing the wall plate as a means to connect a Local Source to a specific zone of a Xantech DIGI audio system, the connections consists of plugging in a cat. 5 cable terminated to an RJ-45 connector wired to T-568A standard to the RJ-45 jack on the rear of the wall plate. The other end simply plugs into the LOCAL PORT RJ-45 jack on the rear of the zone's keypad.
When utilizing the wall plate as a means to connect an audio source to an expansion hub in stand-alone mode, the connections consists of plugging in a cat. 5 cable terminated to an RJ-45 connector wired to T-568A standard to the RJ-45 jack on the rear of the wall plate. The other end simply plugs into the SOURCE LOOP IN RJ-45 jack on the rear of the expansion hub.
Settings/Adjustment
There is one LED on the front of the wall plate that monitors the input level of the connected source. There are two sets of DIP switches on the rear of the unit (marked "GAIN") designed to adjust the input level of the connected source.
Note: The GAIN DIP switches are only for Analog Inputs. The Digital Coaxial and Digital Optical Inputs do not utilize these switches.
