Essential Info

Turn any AC outlet on and off with a DC control voltage. The Controlled AC Outlet is capable of switching up to 15 amps of continuous current to a single device or power strip. This control voltage switched outlet provides a convenient means to manage the power on/off status of A/V components in a multi-zone system that can remember their "on" condition when their power cords are unplugged. The Controlled AC Outlet can also be used to switch components that draw more power than is available from the switched AC outlet on the rear of A/V receivers or preamps. Flanges and supplied screws permit easy mounting to flat surfaces.

    My Samsung receiver came without a built-in switched AC receptacle which I need to automatically power up another AV component whenever the receiver is turned on. The Xantech controlled AC outlet was a perfect substitute. I connected the Xantech's control input to my receiver's 12v 100ma trigger output. I used a mini-audio plug on the receiver side and stripped wire ends to the Xantech screw-clamp terminals. Whenever the receiver is on, the receiver's 12v trigger output causes the Xantech to switch 120VAC 15A wall power to whatever is plugged into it. The Xantech switch is housed in a metal box and overall looks to be well made. It's been working fine for a couple of months now. The price was a little steep, but I would recommend it to a friend.

    The device works perfectly with my Pioneer AVR. I use the 12V trigger of the AVR to switch the Xantech Controlled AC Outlet on and off to control several amplifiers.

    While I could have made a functionally equivalent device, I needed UL approved devices. If I could change something I would prefer a solid state relay, rather the mechanical one used within this device. The addition of an LED indicator seemed a natural, but they left it off. It works as driven from a TTL output. Next I seek this same product in a high current 240-volt model...

    I have this running off a wall wart out of the back of my Denon avr. It powers a Furman power strip that is suppling 3 QSC power amps. Works with out a hitch and I love it!!

    I have a B&K amp that runs hot even in standby mode. I used this to have the amp powered on when the amp's zone is turned on. It works perfectly without any "amp bumb" when it turns on.

    Great product... this works perfectly with the two TTL outputs provided on the HomeSaver freeze alarm system at our vacation home. I agree with the other poster regarding the desirability of a high-current 240V model, it would be perfect for controlling an electric hot water heater or a 240V hot tub heater.
