Essential Info

The Global Caché iTach is a family of products designed to quickly connect almost any electrical device to a network. iTach devices were designed to connect any control system, including the iPhone and iPod touch, and to common household devices so they can be easily accessed and controlled.

Employing iTach devices and remote control software available through iTunes, the Apple iPhone/iPod touch is transformed into a universal remote control in a matter of minutes. Now an iPhone/iPod touch or any Wi-Fi-based controller can access the TV, DVD, cable box, and almost any other electrical device from any room in the house without wiring.

Global Cache WF2IR iTach Wi-Fi to IR features:
Power input - 12V DC@500mA (wall power adapter included)
Network connection - 802.11b (compatible to 802.11b/g) with 2.5" antenna
Wi-Fi can be used from anywhere and does not require line-of-sight access or wiring
Three independent user selectable IR outputs or sensor inputs - 3.5mm mono jack
Third IR port supports IR blaster
Full spectrum IR learner built in

What a great little device. It installs easily, works as described, and the downloaded software makes it so easy to capture and send IR commands. Even the IR blaster works well. If anyone has a problem with this device, all I can say is RTFM - carefully. Nice job, Global Cache!

Flakey at best. I tried this for several months. Did the latest firmware updates in hope that the intermittent dropouts for connectivity would get fixed. Customer support suggested I was getting interference from other wifi devices. Gee that helped a lot. I was wondering how my tv, xbox, receiver, all used wifi for internet work flawlessly. The only solution I could figure out was to unplug it and plug it up again for iRule to work with it. I grew bored with doing this every day sometimes multiple so I switched to using the Logitech link. No comparison which is better. The interface with Logitech is much better than I would have created with iRule anyway.

This product is NOT compatible with 802.11g, only 802.11b. My wireless router, like most, does NOT support 802.11b, like most routers sold in the last 2-3 years. The specs on this product indicated 802.11g, but this is definitely NOT true.
