Essential Info
This hidden IR sensor allows you to route your remote control signals to your A/V equipment located behind a wall or cabinet. The IR sensor size is relatively small (about 1/2" x 13/16") and has a 3.5mm male stereo connector at the end of a 6-foot cable. This plugs into the included "control unit" which then breaks it out into 3 wires, meant to connect to a Xantech-compatible IR distribution system or a 12VDC power supply and IR emitters (sold separately). This sensor provides reliable control of any IR system, regardless of whether your remote is on the standard 40 KHz or higher 56 KHz band.

This sensor accepts signals from almost all remotes in the 40kHz or 56 KHz range and has a pick-up range of 100 feet indoors (15-20 feet in direct sunlight). The unit operates at an angle of view +/- 55 degrees off center. A sensor eye is attached to the end of a 6-foot cord. A talk-back LED confirms reception. Compatible with Xantech and Niles connecting blocks and emitters, this IR sensor includes a LIFETIME warranty.
If you are using a plasma TV use the "plasma-proof" version. It installs just like this IR sensor but can be placed within inches of any plasma screen television.
The unit described above works with nearly all IR systems, except those with specialized high-frequency IR systems, like B&O equipment, which requires a proprietary confirmation talk-back function.
