    In-House Product Review
"Just when you thought the latest IR/RF remote controls sat as the ultimate arsenal of TV couch commandos worldwide, Invoca arms you with its Voice-Activated IR Remote for even more convenience and laziness. Using the sound of your voice, the remote operates completely hands-free, allowing you to multitask, like lying on the couch while drinking beer AND changing channels. You the MAN! This product has helped many of my buddies in the service. After coming home from war. Getting around was hard for them. I bought them each one. they love it. Great all around product. Thank you, SSGT Brown US army.

It came without a manual but I found it on the Internet. Programming was not difficult but it recognizes my commands only part of the time and it changes channels and shuts off my TV randomly about every 30 minutes. Do not use alkaline batteries; they will last just a few hours. Too bad it doesn't come with NiMH batteries. I would not have purchased had I known this. Returning means paying shipping and a 30% restocking fee so f it; garage sale bait.

I can not get it to work on my tv that is a samsung tv and pc monitor and insignia receiver what a joke
VICTORIA -- buena park, CA   9/18/2009
OMG, I got this for a friend of mine who is quadriplegic and needs to call someone everytime she needed to change the channel. This gives her the freedom to change channels any time she wants and not have to rely on other, especially when it takes them forever to answer. The only thing we needed to get was a headset so the remote is on the nightstand and she doesn't have to yell at the remote she just talks into the microphone on the headset. The other thing is that it only holds so many channel within the remote when programmed. She likes to watch anything and everything so she had to limit the channels that could be programmed. I recommend this product for anyone with limited ability to change the channels on their tv.

Difficult to set up. Instructions poorly written. I was hoping it would help my handicapped wife, it has become a frustrating hindrance.
    VALENCIA -- bothell, WA   7/2/2009
The only downside to this remote is that it will freeze and the only way to unfreeze it is remove the batteries. My son has Ataxia and Intent tremors and cannot remove the batteries. Other than that, it's ok.
    GARY -- copley, OH   5/27/2009
It is great when it works. Sometimes it has a mind of its own and will change a channel or shut itself off.
    BETTY -- cincinnati, OH   3/9/2009

    SHARON -- malvern, OH   2/20/2009

    Tony -- brownsville, Texas   12/26/2008
So far tried it on 3 TV's and Wont recognize any of them with codes and only partially functional after searching for codes. I can get almost everything but the channel buttons to function. So far its been nothing more than an expensive waste of money and hasnt solved my iussues or proven functional on a Projection Big screen Magnavox or a 20 inch RCA and a 24 inch RCA

Follow-up, to my review in 2006 below. I did end up getting this identical remote, a huge upgrade from previous InVoca models. It is much simpler to program, and its recognition is much better than previous models. I appreciate that it has a very large library of codes, it learned my new DVD recorder, something previous Invoca models could not do. 3 things. First, I do believe this is mainly for disabled people, such as myself. Yes, it works best in a low-volume room. Secondly, recognition is about 90%, a little frustrating for the casual user. Finally, my model locks up once in awhile, and I need to remove/replace a battery, and reset it, then it's perfect again. Having used these remotes for many years, this one is the best.
    SANDY -- bellevue, WA   2/7/2008
Instruction book could have more info especially on the need to use keywords to prevent random responses.
LAURA -- ben lomond, CA   1/20/2008
motivated user but couldn't get it to learn anything beyond the pre-programed commands and they didn't work consistently.
    CHRISTOPHER -- indianapolis, IN   12/31/2007
Igot the voice activated remote control for my brother who is parlyzed from the neck down, it is the greatest thing we have found and been able to afford for his condition. However there are a couple little things that could be improved on.1. its not really stable in the base.2. you have to have the t.v.turned down pretty low,so the remote can tell you from the t.v. but when there is no one in the room he would not do with out it. thank you c. walker
    GLYNN -- porirua, XX   12/20/2007
Clumsy to use and not particularly accepting of voice commands unless you maintain tone. Also rejects many common phrases such as "cursor up". Overall may be useful for a person with physical impairment and time on their hands.
    Ker -- paris, France   12/1/2007
Given to blind man who is also tetraplegic. "I'm now able to listen to concerts, infos or musics by my own. It has changed my life!" This marvellous machine is able to recognize voice commands when said as recorded. Codes from the original remote are easily learned and reproduced. It's worthwhile to take some time to train this machine because really it can change the life of disabled or old people. Thanks to the inventor, manufacturer and Smarthome.
VICKI -- east farmingdale, NY   8/27/2007
After a month of trying we still cannot get the set up right on the remote. At this point we are considering returning the product. The set up needs to be more user friendly
