The Aeros is custom-programmable via PC software; the software can also be used on a Mac. Each of the components you want to control can be programmed with up to four pages of LCD screens with up to 260 custom commands per component. Program 50 of your favorite channels, and you'll be able to select via channel name, rather than trying to remember the number each time. Programming is simple: the Programming Wizard will walk you through the customization process step by step.
If you add an RF Expander, you'll be able to control your audio/video components placed out of sight behind closed doors and/or in another room of your house. The Aeros sends radio signals to this RF Expander unit through walls and closed doors (up to 100 feet away, indoors or outdoors). The RF Expander then converts your commands to the infrared signals that control your A/V components. The Aeros and RF Expander can also be purchased together as a kit. Also available is the MRF-300 Multi-Zone Base Station (sold separately), an addressable RF station that comes with a separate antenna for maximum range. The Aeros and the MRF-300 are also available as a kit.
Using the Aeros is easy. Select an activity or device, and the remote control will begin a macro that establishes the proper power and issues all necessary commands to set up the sound and picture for your system for that device.
The powerful memory of the Aeros offers up to 912 potential macro buttons. Each of these macros can play back recorded sequences of commands that completely automate a complex system with one touch. Each macro can record and play back up to 190 steps with time delays between steps when desired. For example: a single touch to the ON button could turn on the TV, the surround sound system, and the satellite receiver, then set the TV to the correct video input, the surround system to the right audio settings, and finish by selecting your favorite satellite TV channel.
The Aeros is backlit for easy viewing in low-light environments, and its smart memory backup system retains programmed memory for up to 10 years, even if the batteries die.
You can even use the Aeros to execute X10 commands! Aim your Aeros at the Infrared X10 Command Console (sold separately), and it will translate your commands to turn on lights, close drapes or turn up the heat. X10 plug-in modules are required for this feature and are sold separately.
