The Remote Extender Genius works as advertised. I have a few of the previous models (Remote Extender) which also work well (but don't have as many frequency options). This is a great solution is one wants to place your component (e.g. HD cable box) out of sight. For those who have a Comcast HD cable box (Motorola DCX3200P2: MoCA code name, newer black, small HD cable box) one can get a serial cable and plug directly between the Remote Extender Genius and the serial port in the back of the cable box (eliminating the IR emitter). It works GREAT and highly responsive (serial cable can be purchased at Radio Shack for ~$4).

One reviewer said it was hard to program. He doesn't know what he is talking about. It doesn't require any programming at all. Just put the battery in your remote, put the it eye in front of your remotely located device cable box plug in the transmitter/receiver unit and it works like a charm. I have installed them in two of my own homes and in my moms home flawlessly in about 2 minutes. I have a 417 mhz and a 433 mhz unit in the closet with the cable boxes that operate my living room and bedroom tv side by side.. Each of the separate frequencies operate without affecting the other device. Next Gen sent me a couple ir shields and now my tv's are cleanly hanging on the wall with no visible wiring. Anyone who would say they were hard to program clearly doesn't understand what this product is.I give it a great big 10.
