When you are using computers to control home theater gear you may wish to have more control options. Probes can be used to prevent system-issued IR commands from getting out of step with the controlled components or to trigger actions based on the power status of a component. The TV ProbeLinc is a TV detector probe that senses the presence of the high-frequency RF emissions of a traditional (CRT) TV when it is on. The TV ProbeLinc can also detect operation of an electric motor or even a radio transmitter. Originally designed as an accessory for the now discontinued X10 to IR Linc, PC to IR Linc, and I/O Linc, the ProbeLinc's can also be used with the JDS IR Xpander. Hint: If you notice the TV Detector Probe is too sensitive, you can cut the end of the sensor lead (in small increments) to lessen the sensitivity.
