Essential Info
Many new homes and office buildings already contain structured cabling systems of not only electrical and phone wiring, but also inexpensive cat. 5 twisted pair cable, which is commonly used as a data line. Take maximum advantage of this existing wiring by adding baluns to each end. These small transformers convert audio and video signals from unbalanced to balanced and vice versa, making the necessary impedance adjustments for A/V signal transmission between different wiring systems. This means that you can run your signal over inexpensive cat. 5 wiring, rather than rewiring your home in order to send component video and digital audio signals from room to room. These Component Video/Digital Audio Baluns are designed for use with HDTV component video and/or digital audio equipment, sending component video and digital audio transmission up to 1000 feet. The Component Video/Digital Audio Baluns are sold in pairs and are designed to work together. A Coaxial RCA S/PDIF audio connecting cord is required for digital audio signal transmission and is sold separately.

Transmit Component Video Over Cat. 5Ideal for such devices as DVD players, satellite receivers, plasma displays, projectors, monitors, amplifiers, switchers, and other equipment supporting HDTV component video and/or digital audio, the Component Video/Digital Audio Baluns allow one component video (YPbPr or RGB) signal and one digital audio signal to be transmitted via cost-effective unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable in a point-to-point configuration. Used in pairs, the Component Video, Digital Audio Baluns support 480i/p, 720p and 1080i/p resolution for hi-definition (HDTV) video applications.
Transmit Over Longer Distances Than HDMIHDMI is a great connection protocol, but it's limited in how far you can transmit - the signal degrades at lengths over about 10'. However, with these baluns and some Cat 5 cable, you can successfully transmit HDTV signals up to 500' without degradation. Now you don't have to worry about poor signals when connecting a projector to your rack system or feeding the plasma screen in the den.
Advantage of Using BalunsBecause they contain isolation transformers and utilize twisted cabling, baluns eliminate the ground loops that cause background hum and rolling interference. Baluns also extend transmission distances, passively transmitting audio and video signals up to 2500 feet. In addition to these Component Video/Digital Audio Baluns, numerous audio and video baluns are available and are sold separately.
