Essential Info

This Low Pass Filter passes CATV 2-116, blocks CATV >121, passes off-air 2-60, blocks off-air 65-69. Low Pass Filters are necessary whenever you want to create your own channels with modulators. These units will filter out frequencies above a certain point so that your channel can be distributed throughout your video distribution system without interference from the cable company. Channels below the filter's rating will come through without attenuation. It will remove cable system noise, test and monitoring signals from the cable company, and signals for cable modems.

Additionally, the filters will keep your modulated signals from traveling back down the cable and into your neighbor's homes. A side benefit is that it could block some channels that parents find objectionable. The filter will not effect channels 95 to 99 on cable systems.

In some cases, where the signal strength on existing channels to be blocked is high, two filters in series may be necessary to completely block the signal.

This is my third Channel Plus filter. These units are solidly made and the male connector on one end and female on the other as opposed to two female connectors makes them super easy to install. I had the LPF-600 on my system, but my cable company moved some of the HD local channels on basic cable to between channel 86 and 95. When this happened, I lost a couple of those channels on my whole-house distribution system. The LPF-750 filter did the trick. My understanding is the cable companies move these channels around every now and then, so unless you have too many in-house channels security cameras, DVR units, etc. to fit in channels 121-125, I would recommend this filter for better future-proofing.

This let me modulate my TiVo onto channel 120, without interfering with my digital cable (including HD tier and cable modem). The main thing is to make sure you know what frequencies your cable companies use. Most don't use anything over 600 Mhz, but the newer systems might.
