Many new homes and office buildings already contain structured cabling systems of not only electrical and phone wiring, but also inexpensive cat. 5 twisted pair cable, which is commonly used as a data line. Now you can take maximum advantage of this existing wiring by adding baluns to each end. These small transformers convert audio, video, or VGA signals from unbalanced to balanced and vice versa, making the necessary impedance adjustments for A/V signal transmission between different wiring systems. This means that you can run your signal over inexpensive cat. 5 wiring, rather than rewiring your home in order to send these signals from room to room. The Ultra-High Resolution VGA Balun provides a low-cost, versatile cabling solution for VGA distribution, utilizing a building's existing structured cabling system.

The High-Resolution VGA Balun allows you to transmit text, images, or any WSXGA (1920 x 1200 pixel) data from a computer to a monitor or projector in another location up to 550 feet away over cat. 5 twisted pair cable. With its send and receive units, VGA jumper cables and power supply, this kit contains everything you'll require to transmit VGA over cat. 5 with bandwidth up to 350 MHz. The single 5-volt power supply will power both baluns.
Because they contain isolation transformers and utilize twisted cabling, baluns eliminate the ground loops that cause background hum and rolling interference. Baluns also extend transmission distances, passively transmitting audio and video signals up to 2500 feet and actively transmitting VGA signals up to 550 feet. In addition to this Ultra-High Resolution VGA Balun, other available baluns include Component/Composite Video Baluns w/RCA Connectors, Component/Composite Video Balun BNC, Stereo Audio Baluns, Dual Stereo Audio Baluns, and High-Resolution VGA Baluns, all sold separately.
