  • An economical and time-saving alternative to pulling new runs of coaxial cable
  • Supports broadband RF, CATV, VHF and FM
  • Works with cable TV, satellite receivers, VCRs, RF splitters and amplifiers
  • Low return loss eliminates "ghosting"

Essential Info

If your house is already wired with cat. 5 twisted pair cable, you can take advantage of this existing wiring to add cable or satellite service or other broadband video to another room in your home without having to run more costly video cable. Add a VideoEase CATV Balun II to each end: These small transformers convert audio, video, or VGA signals from unbalanced to balanced and vice versa, making the necessary impedance adjustments for A/V signal transmission between different wiring systems. This CATV video balun can send signals up to 330 feet. The VideoEase CATV Balun II is designed to work in pairs, but each is sold separately.

VideoEase CATV Baluns baluns work in conjunction with CATV splitters, amplifiers and cable modems. Depending on the type of signal you're sending, you may need an amplifier with tilt compensation. This is due to the fact that the higher the frequency, the more signal loss you may encounter.

VideoEase CATV Baluns support channels CATV 2-150, VHF 2-13 and the FM broadcast band. Maximum distance is 330 feet (100m) via Cat. 5. twisted-pair cable, depending on frequency. Baluns include a built-in male "F" connector for coax and an RJ-45 connector for twisted-pair.

After installation and a quick call to Muxlab, we discovered it will not deliver a high defintion signal to a remote cable TV HD box
RICHARD PARMALE -- danbury, CT   11/21/2010
It passes the CATV signal but the quality of the signal decreased significantly compared to the RG59 coax that was already in place for the run.
    GREG -- monroe, LA   8/23/2010
worked great! Definitely recommend! ..if you need to connect coax/run tv over cat5 cable..
Brad -- mercer island, WA   6/16/2009
Hooked it up and it worked fine. A couple of old antenna channels have a bit of crosstalk but the rest is stellar.
    Steve -- covington, KY   1/21/2009
The balun is very easy to install and works great. I have used them to carry coax cable and HD antenna signal and the signal is very strong. However, I have found that the baluns are very fragile. I have had two break at the coax connection under very little stress. Be careful that you do not have any tension on the coax cable - if you do, the end will break right off.
    RYAN -- trinity, NC   4/28/2008
Was easy to install, but the picture has interferance on it - it's a little fuzzy still.
    ENRICO -- nossegem, XX   3/8/2008
Great Service ! Fast delivery. Thanks a lot
    TIMOTHY -- redmond, WA   12/20/2007
I tried to move my Comcast Digital cable across ~20 feet of Cat5 without success.
    TONY -- hillsborough, NC   1/26/2007
Unfortunately I see some signal loss/distortion in certain frequencies/channels, whereas it is there is pretty good signal for most. But since the effect channel loss is not important for the typical use of the particular TV affected, it's OK in my case. OK because I could use an existing CAT5 run to a particular TV location, rather than run standard cable, but I would not recommend it to others because despite the expense, it is an imperfect solution.
    SHAUN -- roslyn, PA   10/19/2006
Works very well. Since they only need pins 7 and 8 I'm using 1 CAT5e cable to send both data and CATV.
