If you've been looking for a cost-effective way to integrate a PA paging system with an existing whole-house audio system, you're in luck! With the Telephone System Coupler, all you need to make announcements over your existing whole-house audio system is a multi-line telephone system with one available CO line! Just pick up the phone, select the unused phone extension, and speak! It's perfect for making "Dinner's Ready" type announcements to everyone in the house, without having to shout throughout the property.
If you're using a whole-house amplifier like the Kustom 6-Source, 6-Room Whole House Audio Amplifier (#8270C), this double-pole, double-throw relay will mute all the music sources and broadcast your page from the telephone.
When used with the optional Auto Ducking Module (#8259), instead of just muting the music audio signal when the page is initiated, the primary audio signal will smoothly fade out, keeping the volume down for the duration of the page. When the page is finished, the volume will fade in to the previous listening level. The transition between signals will remain completely fluid and natural sounding, and won't endanger your speakers (or your ears) with annoying feedback, clicks or pops.
The Telephone System Coupler is completely non-proprietary, and works with any number of systems. Mounting Velcro included.
Don't Forget the Power Supply!Because this coupler uses an uncommon power supply that may be difficult to find at stores, we recommend using one of the 24VDC power supplies listed below (each sold separately). Made by the same manufacturer as the coupler itself, these power supplies are fully UL-approved. If you plan on only using one coupler, use the 400mA version (#7796PS4). If you plan on powering one or more couplers, use the 1000mA version (#7796PS1).
Note: Module should not be wired in parallel with any phone line.
