While the auto switcher does do its job, and is capable of switching audio relatively quickly, the fact that optical cables always output a signal whether they are outputting any audio or not makes this device pretty useless for my own setup. The reason I am assigning it 2 stars isn't so much for the device as for the misleading "Automatically selects the active digital audio input" active to me is something that is outputting audio, active in their context means on. All things considered the device really is great, but it created more headaches than it solved for my setup.

Works as advertised. Auto switching is almost fool-proof.

Automatic feature of the digital audio switch works quite well.The only problem I did have with this feature,was when I played a region coded dvd in my region free dvd player,the auto audio feature would jump back and forth between my blu-ray player (which was turned off);and the aforementioned player.To solve this problem,I set the audio manually.Besides that,product performs as described by manufacturer.Also,I received the item promptly(within two weeks) and in very good shape.Overall,good product and service.

I am very satisfied. I had a defective product and it was promptly replaced and now it is working great. More companies need to be like Smarthome.

The digital audio switcher works very well. The prioritized inputs auto-switch, allowing the unit to be stored out of sight which may be necessary as the plasticky finish does not look good next to high end equipment. The single digital input of my home entertainment system now supports four digital sources without the need for any manual intervention. Highly recommended.

This item does exactly what it is supposed to do. If you don't have a receiver with multiple digital audio inputs, this switcher will fix that problem.
